Position Summary:

We are searching for a talented and experienced Field Service Engineer (FSE) who will perform on-site service installations, qualifications, maintenance, and repairs on state of the art Single-Use systems which include a full range of Single Use Bioreactors, Fermenters, Mixing Systems and support equipment typically used in the biopharmaceutical industry. The FSE will provide the necessary technical training and any required troubleshooting to ensure proper operation of equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site installations, qualifications (FATs, SATs, and IOQ), maintenance and repairs of Single-Use Systems which include but not limited to Bioreactors, Fermenters, and Mixing Systems

  • Must be client-focused, working in conjunction with other internal teams and Commercial Sales

  • Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service and support is provided

  • Reviews customer User Requirements Specifications (URS) and product specifications; Collaborates with customer and internal teams on product opportunities

  • Supports customers to analyze and troubleshoot issues to determine source of problems, and recommends solutions or other corrective actions and

  • Provide necessary customer VOC and insight to new technologies that could complement the existing range from the perspective of identified customer needs

  • Provides effective end-user training and safe operations of equipment for optimal performance to our customers

  • Supports Commercial Sales activities in providing technical support and service to customers

  • Support Field Applications team as needed in providing effective value-added solutions on design and development, optimization, consultation, technical support, and troubleshooting of Single-Use systems to our customers

  • Other duties that may be assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Mechanical/Process Engineering or similar related Engineering or technical field

  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience working with bioprocessing equipment within the biotech, biopharmaceutical, biologics, and/or life sciences industries in an engineering, technical or manufacturing capacity

  • Proven hands-on experience in hardware installations, qualifications (IQ/OQ), integrated control systems integration and ideally with experience using Single-Use products

  • Knowledge of Single-Use systems including Bioreactors, Fermenters, and Mixers and Bioprocess Containers (BPCs)

  • Good understanding of processes and applications used within the biopharmaceutical, biotech, human and animal vaccine industries

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding with proven operational and troubleshooting experience

  • Basic knowledge & understanding of cGMP & other regulatory guidelines for the Biotech and Biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience working with integrated controls systems (i.e. Delta V, Siemens, and Allen Bradley) typically used within the Biotech and Biopharmaceutical Industry

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID drawings

  • Good project management skills combined with the ability to multi-task effectively

  • Highly motivated and self-directed requiring minimal supervision including the ability to work on multiple projects

  • Excellent communication and team-working skills

  • Ability and willingness to work across professional & cross-functional teams

  • Excellent computer skills including experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Project), AutoCAD, Solid Works or other related design software

  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of time and operate from a home-base within the Western US.

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is the face of Beckman Coulter to customers and the support they provide directly impacts patient health and overall well-being. The FSE provides frontline support by resolving customers' problems and issues through technical expertise and troubleshooting. The FSE has the opportunity to drive service revenue sales targets while ensuring strong customer contract retention rate and warranty conversion rate. The FSE uses critical thinking to resolve issues within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action to rapidly repair instrumentation. FSEs provide training to our customers and verify the operational performance and data quality of systems in order to contribute to our overall team success. Many FSEs operate independently within their geographic territory, however Beckman Coulter offers a team based environment with opportunities to benchmark, mentor and receive expert technical support. FSEs enjoy being home-based and being provided with a company car, iphone and laptop. The FSE will also have the opportunity to travel within the region to support customers using their technical expertise. Position Summary: The Field Service Engineer in this position will: * Under minimal supervision, serve as lead to assigned customers; complete troubleshooting, installation, validation, maintenance, and service repair needs on designated equipment. May assist and/or train less experienced Field Engineers * Provide excellent and efficient customer service to Beckman Coulter's customers, along with technical training on products * Repair, maintain, and install product line(s). * Complete on-time and accurate Preventative Maintenance and Field Modification Instruction as needed * Travel throughout the district territory, experiencing all the various places our instrumentation is utilized * Document and report all repairs and product failures * Keep up to date on administrative responsibilities such as maintaining customer service logs and internal service records in a timely manner, ordering repair parts, and managing cycle times * Help with the development of preventative maintenance procedures * Focus on customer needs and satisfaction, while building on and enhancing the relationship with the customer to ultimately become a perceived partner in their business * Applicant must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. This would be to include tools, replacement parts, consumables etc. * Maintain a Valid driver's license that meets Beckman Coulter's safe driver standards * Beckman Coulter Associates who drive Beckman Coulter vehicles must comply with the Danaher Company Vehicle Policy. * Vendor credentialing requirements include without limitation, yearly background checks, immunizations, and various trainings. * Comply with vendor credentialing requirements is an essential function of this position. * Effective communication and customer service skills. * Instill customer satisfaction that is recognizable and valuable to the customer * Stay compliant with the company's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test. * Strong time management and organization skills.
