Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to work: Compressed Shift Schedule

  • A 4 shift cycle, 12-hour shifts (day & night including weekends)
  • In a controlled cleanroom environment, which will involve the wearing of a gown and relevant personal protective equipment
  • Candidates must have expertise on one or more of the following 200mm and 300mm Equipment Types: (Applicants without expertise on this equipment will not be considered)
  • 5+ years of Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

The principal duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Able to train, mentor, and coach junior and entry-level maintenance technicians
  • Attention to detail is a key part of this role
  • Responsibility for the safe working environment of yourself and those around you
  • Ability to understand customers quality requirement process and be responsible for customer satisfaction while working in a competitive team and adhering to customer build/test instructions.
  • Monitor, control, and qualify the state of the art 200mm and 300mm semiconductor equipment
  • Perform, and teach others how to perform, preventive maintenance activities
  • React to error messages of factory systems and/or equipment
  • Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and react to Out of Control conditions including defect troubleshooting
  • Identify and address potential areas for improvement and optimize tool availability, cycle time, utilization and cost
  • Ability to be successful in a customer-facing role, react to changes in equipment manufacturing priorities
  • Ability to coach other Field Service Technicians

Suitable candidates are:

  • Must be confident in a training style atmosphere
  • Must have the ability to work under their own direction or as part of a team
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and by written means and contribute to team-based forums and meetings
  • Will be computer literate and able to use basic software packages and have the ability to learn client-specific tools
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, lift/carry a minimum of 50 lbs and be able to bend/kneel for extended periods of time, while wearing all appropriate PPE

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) for the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific is responsible for performing customer installs, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a variety of instruments in assigned territory. The FSE positively interacts with customers to drive satisfaction by solving technical problems and identifying areas to improve their work. The FSE also acts as a trusted advisor by commercially leveraging and executing qualifications or validation service offerings for the customer. Successful candidates reside within in a 50-mile radius of the Salt Lake City UT metro area. What will you do? * Provide onsite installation of instruments, upgrades, updates, repairs and planned maintenance service. * Display professionalism, understanding, tact, fairness, and technical knowledge in all customer interactions. * Achieve specified revenue targets while satisfying customer from instrument repair, installs and PM's. * Achieve customer satisfaction (CAS) targets as specified annually. * Interact with customers to offer and close the sale of service contracts and other service products. * Collaborate with internal partners to resolve customer issues and improve processes. * Follow all reporting protocol/responsibilities regarding Remote Service Dispatch (RSD), Escalation, Field Problem Report (FPR) and Field Service Report (FSR) submissions. * Familiar with and follow policies that pertain to the handling of spare parts: ordering, usage, returns, physical count, car stock management, etc. * Execute Qualification & Validation Products at customer sites. * Maintain technical competency level servicing new instrument and issues by attending trainings, staff meetings and remaining up to speed on new products, markets, customers and competitors. * Manages travel expenses and follows Thermo Fisher Scientific travel policies and guidelines. * May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned. How will you get here? Education Requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences and/or Engineering. Examples include: Biomedical Engineering, Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or other related field. Masters level degree preferred Experience * Experience in a related Life-Sciences, Biomedical Engineering and/or customer-facing role. * Experience in a Clinical, Diagnostic and/or other regulated environment (CAP, CLIA, FDA) preferred * Experience in related product applications and instruments (PCR, CE Sequencing, NGS, and Microscopy) preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities * Uses effective questioning to identify customer needs * Exercises judgment setting work priorities and identifies next steps * Requires minimal oversight * Participates as a positive influence to the team * Quickly adapts to change with positive and constructive feedback * Must possess a valid driver's license and clean Motor Vehicle Report * Aptitude for learning and understanding IT systems and processes a plus Working Conditions: Frequent travel to customer sites is required and ranges from 30-50% of work time.
