Beckman Coulter Diagnostics Field Service Engineers provide excellent customer service to clients while installing and maintaining diagnostic instrumentation and systems in hospital and stand-alone laboratory environments. As a Field Service Engineer (FSE) you will be the face of Beckman Coulter to customers and support them, directly impacting patient health and overall well-being. As an FSE on our team, you will also provide frontline support by resolving customer(s) problems and issues through technical expertise and troubleshooting. You will drive service revenue sales targets while ensuring strong customer contract retention rate and warranty conversion rate. In this role, you will utilize critical thinking to resolve issues within defined procedures and practices to resolve appropriate action to rapidly repair instrumentation. In addition, you will train our customers and verify the operational performance and data quality of systems in order to contribute to our overall commercial organization.

Many FSEs operate independently within their geographic territory, however we operate as a team to share standard methodologies, mentor and receive experienced technical support. In this role, you will enjoy being home-based and will also be provided with a company car, iphone and laptop. You will also have the opportunity to travel within the region to support customers using your technical expertise.

Position Summary:

The Field Service Engineer in this position will:

  • Under minimal supervision, serve as lead to assigned customers; complete troubleshooting, installation, validation, maintenance, and service repair needs on designated equipment. May assist and/or train newer Field Engineers

  • Provide excellent and efficient service to Beckman Coulter's customers, along with technical training on products

  • Repair, maintain, and install product line(s).

  • Complete on-time and accurate Preventative Maintenance and Field Modification Instruction as needed

  • Travel throughout the district territory, experiencing all the various places our instrumentation is utilized

  • Document and report all repairs and product failures

  • Keep up to date on administrative responsibilities such as maintaining customer service logs and internal service records in a timely manner, ordering repair parts, and adhering to cycle times

  • Help with the development of preventative maintenance procedures

  • Focus on customer needs and satisfaction, while building on and enhancing the relationship with the customer to ultimately become a perceived partner in their business

  • Applicant will require ability to lift up to 50 pounds. This would be to include tools, replacement parts, consumables etc.

  • Maintain a Valid driver's license that meets Beckman Coulter's safe driver standards

  • Beckman Coulter Associates who drive Beckman Coulter vehicles must comply with the Danaher Company Vehicle Policy.

  • Vendor credentialing requirements include without limitation, yearly background checks, immunizations, and various trainings.

  • Comply with vendor credentialing requirements is an essential function of this position.

  • Effective communication and customer service skills.

  • Instill customer satisfaction that is recognizable and valuable to the customer

  • Stay compliant with the company's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test.

  • Strong time management and organization skills.


  • Associates degree plus 1-3 years experience

  • Technical Associates degree or equivalent in military experience

  • Hold a current valid driver's license and good driving record over last three years is required

  • Willing to work different shifts as business needs

  • Ability to travel and provide service in assigned geography, as well as periodic travel to other regions or for training


  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 3 years' experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical, and/or electronic equipment. Med-Tech experience

  • Experience collaborating with internal team members and external customers.

As a customer-facing representative of Binding Site Inc., the Field Service Engineer conveys professionalism and service excellence at all times. Ideal location: Cincinnati, OH or Louisville, KY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Service and Support of Customer's Binding Site Instrumentation * Set up and install Binding Site instrumentation and peripheral equipment at customer sites. * Conduct preventative maintenance service of instrumentation at customer sites. * Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting instrumentation via phone, email and/or in person in response to requests, inquiries and complaints from customers and/or Binding Site staff. * Repair instruments and/or replace instrument components, including troubleshooting as needed, to restore instrument/software functionality within agreed upon timelines, and to achieve first time fix solutions. * Function as liaison for any third party service engineering support; maintain regular communication and visits, providing direction as needed, to ensure compliance/improvement of third party support with expected standards and contractual obligations. * Maintain key quality/performance indicators through metrics and trending, for field service. * Ensure customer inquiries and requests are responded to within Binding Site service level agreements. * May help edit, write and modify Service and Training manuals, Field Service Bulletins, and SOPs. Technical Service & Continuous Improvement * Document calls and complaints in the customer relationship management (CRM) database, and follow any other documentation requirements in accordance with Binding Site's Quality System. * Provide training for customers as well as Technical Services staff, as needed. * Work with Finance and Technical Services to recommend stock level of service parts, ensuring cost effectiveness. * Recommend strategies and tactics that increase efficiency and improve quality of field engineering service and support. * Manage customer satisfaction surveys, implementing continuous improvement actions based on feedback. * Maintain open communication cross-departmentally to share market feedback. * Liaise with Global engineering service team on best-practices and opportunities for improvement * Actively participate in Technical Services, Sales/Marketing and/or corporate initiatives to add value to department/company, including participation in trade shows, project teams, etc. * Maintain product knowledge and skills, attending training courses as required.
