  • Maintain cleanliness of laboratory and equipment as needed

  • Assist with kit assembly when needed

  • Receive, QC and prepare instruments for shipment

  • Verify proper functioning of instruments

  • Verify proper functioning of test kit systems on instruments

  • Write test files using different software systems

  • Provide technical assistance to customers for hardware, software, and reagents via telephone and in-person communication

  • Recognize and communicate product issues, complaints, improvements, and resolutions

  • Document call contacts and assist with technical training of customers

  • Install diagnostics instruments into customer laboratories

  • Test reagents in customer laboratories on new and existing diagnostics instrumentation

  • Train customers

  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance

  • Assist customers with meeting their regulatory and verification requirements

  • Present product & technical information

Home base is in Davis, CA

The Ideal Candidate would possess:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Experience as Test Designer

  • Proficiency with Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox

  • Willingness and ability to learn other software programs as needed

  • General Laboratory knowledge (use of equipment; pipetting; personal safety; general lab practices)

  • Technical knowledge of Immunochemistry & ELISA testing

  • Knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations (cGMP) and International Standards (ISO) pertaining to medical devices

  • Ability to communicate technical information and problems with customers and co-workers

  • Ability to learn new & existing instrumentation and software technology

  • Maintain systems for tracking proper functioning of tests and equipment, software versions, and test file versions

  • Ability to manually run tests

  • Diplomacy and tact in resolving issues with co-workers and customers, specifically lab technicians and department managers

  • Ability to travel on short notice for periods of up to one week

  • Must be able to coordinate own travel arrangement when traveling to customer sites

  • Evaluate software and determine causes of malfunctions

  • General technical and customer assistance

  • Record data, make computations, analyze results, and write reports

  • Calibrate test equipment and determine causes of equipment malfunctions

  • Previous diagnostic instrumentation experience

Basic Minimum Qualifications

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related field and at least 3 years previous work experience in a similar engineering position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Previous experience working with customers and working remotely

Position is full-time, Monday

  • Friday 8:00am

We are seeking a dynamic field service engineer with a track record of success to play a key role in supporting the growth of our company providing outstanding technical support to customers. You will work closely with manufacturing, R & D, and engineering to recognize and solve customer issues, and recommend product improvements. Educational Background: AS in engineering, equivalent technical field degree, or equivalent technical experience Experience: 3- 5 years in technical field service, preferably complex printing devices or equivalent. Other Requirements: Experience training customers on equipment set-up and operation Familiarity with complex instrumentation, flexographic equipment or equivalent Strong technical ability and troubleshooting experience Working knowledge of PLC's and control devises. Demonstrated strong problem solving skills Attention to detail, strong interpersonal and documentation skills, and strong work ethic. Job Responsibilities Receive & document in-bound technical troubleshooting calls and follow-up in a timely manner Recommend field service improvement programs for existing and new products Assist in development of Fault-Tree and respond to customer requests Deliver world-class field service and build customer satisfaction Adhere to safety rules, manufacturing procedures, company policies and procedures. Strong electrical / mechanical aptitude on automated equipment. Ability to read and work from electrical schematics. Hands-on person with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues quickly. Able to follow through on equipment installations, from pre-installation to final training. A good working knowledge of PLC's and ladder logic. Ability to provide assistance to customers both in person and by phone dealing with technical and operational issues. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Travel to customer or manufacturing sites required, up to 75 -80 %. Person must be able to travel internationally with a passport. Accessibility to a major airport within a one hour drive. Keep records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment. Inspect, test, and repair equipment following manufacturers' specifications, using test and analysis instruments. Study technical manuals and attend training sessions provided by equipment manufacturers to maintain current knowledge.
