Field Safety Engineer

The Field Safety Engineer is a project based position located in San Francisco, CA. This position is a field safety position at our Central Subway Project. The Field Safety Engineer will work closely with the projects safety team and will report to the Project Safety Manager.


Assist in managing the project safety program at the field level working closely with the projects safety team, Superintendents, Foreman and field employees.

Interpret and apply CCR Title 8 Construction Industry Safety Orders along with the Cal-OSHA Mining and Tunneling Safety Orders, the projects Site Safety and Health Plan along and other regulatory requirements.

Enforce injury and illness prevention plans, and ensure workers and subcontractor are in compliance with all Cal-OSHA safety and health requirements and project requirements.

Conducts daily inspections of the site(s) to ensure work is being performed safely.

Review job hazard analysis (JHA) to identify hazards and potential risks.

In conjunction with the operations group, conducts incident investigations for near misses, first aid, and other incidents.

Responsible for conducting safety orientation/ Tunnel Safety Training for new workers and visitors as required.

Work with all levels of staff including the client safety representative and general public.

Coordinate and help manage our return to work program.

Must be able to conduct safety training on: Tunnel Safety, Forklifts, Aerial lifts, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Rigging & Signaling and other topics as required.

Must be a team orientated person and willing to coach and mentor at all levels.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Qualifications

5 years of heavy civil construction experience.

Certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST),

OSHA 30-hour Construction training card.

Cal-OSHA Mining and Tunneling Certified Gas Tester and Safety Representative.

Valid California driver's license.

First Aid/CPR/AED certified.

Proficient in MS Office or equivalent
