Reporting to the Field Department Manager, the Field Representative will work with a team of agriculture professionals to drive innovative idea creation and new technology implementation in support of continuous improvement goals. This position will work with growers to develop best practices and identify potato issues that may impact quality and partner with the Operations team to ensure the raw requirements match the production schedule to provide the right raw at the right time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Drive change within McCain Foods and within our grower group as new technology and apps are adapted and integrated into our business.

  • Utilize databases as decision making tools, recommend actions and follow through to reach or exceed goals in managing raw potatoes into the plant.

  • Participate in cross functional teams with our production partners to gain knowledge and drive continuous improvement in French Fry manufacturing.

  • Foster relationships with our grower/suppliers that enable business development for all parties. Proactively inspect and monitor raw product storage facilities for food safety, environmental conditions and product quality.

  • Coordinate with the Agriculture Food Safety Manager for North America on McCain Food Safety Initiatives relevant to the location. Extend programs to the farm and ensure grower compliance.

  • Attend and participate in local and national agricultural production meetings to gain knowledge of current and upcoming agricultural practices.

  • Identify and communicate key improvement areas with respect to production, quality, and food safety, to grower/suppliers.

  • Provide weekend and holiday cover for the potato scheduler as required.

  • Drive the Safety Agenda in the work environment.


  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Business, Agronomy or at least ten years supervisory experience in potato processing required

  • 1-3 years relevant working experience, preferably within agricultural, manufacturing and/or quality

  • Strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to development and nurture strong cross-functional and departmental relationships

  • Knowledge of computers, GPS, and Smart phone technologies are essential. Understanding of GIS and Remote sensing an asset

  • Excellent command of English, both verbal & written

  • Valid driver's license (current Drivers Abstract required)

This role is responsible for identifying and making required adjustments to work plans to safely meet system operation demands and reliability requirements for the assigned Region/Area. This position is not eligible for overtime pay. * This position may be filled at other company locations within the region, depending on the location of the successful candidate. Responsibilities * Develop, manage, publish and communicate monthly maintenance work plans for the assets within the designated area; * Develop work plans for major activities that could significantly impact system operations if not implemented successfully and escalate to Maintenance Program Manager for review; * Publish and update work plans on a monthly basis, manage the maintenance work plans for the assets, and assess and report on the effectiveness of the maintenance work plans; * Work with area leaders to schedule and assign work from the work plans and SAP backlog on a weekly basis; * Responsible for the training, operation qualifications, regulatory and compliance schedules; * Maintain the up-to-date region technical staff availability database (including time allocated for training, administrative activities and not available for work time); * Ensure adjustments to the standard maintenance programs resulting from the development of equipment plans are properly processed and incorporated into the computerized maintenance management system; * Manage the collection and completion of revisions to entity management information for systems and equipment that is installed, replaced or retired; * Work with all critical stakeholders to ensure alignment with project plans and schedules; * Collaborate with Commercial Operations to gain acceptance/approval of outage plans; * Other tasks as required. Qualifications and Education Qualifications * Working knowledge and expertise with computerized maintenance management systems for work planning and information retrieval, specifically SAP and Excel; * Demonstrated ability to assess continuous changing resource demands and make suitable adjustments to existing plans with limited management guidance; * Superior organizational skills; * Effective analytical skills; * Must possess human relations skills to effectively operate in a team-oriented environment with a willingness to support team objectives; * Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work closely with field teams and Management, and coordinate work with other appropriate technical resources; * Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization; * Must be able to handle rapidly shifting priorities and multiple projects concurrently, requiring resolution of complex problems in stressful situations; * Ability and initiative to work independently, display creativity, and exercise sound judgment. Education / Experience * Technical school graduation; * 6 or more years of related experience; * Experienced in project management and/or work planning and scheduling * Ability to achieve certification in project management would be an asset; * Strong understanding of pipeline facility operations * This position requires candidates to: * Have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record; * Be subject to callouts with extended workdays/weeks as required to complete assignments or emergency support; * Travel frequently within the assigned area of responsibility; * Travel occasionally to other company locations which may include overnight trips. * Depending on the qualifications of the applicants, the successful candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level and/or ladder.
