As a member of the Field Property Claims Team, you will play a vital role in providing an outstanding customer experience by using your investigative and negotiation skills to resolve a variety of homeowner claims in a fast paced, detail-oriented, team environment. In this role, you will travel to the loss site to conduct thorough analysis. Every day is a new exciting challenge, as our Field Property Claims Adjusters use cutting edge homeowner's products and services to help our customers through the claims process.

Location is Western Baltimore

In this role, you will:

  • Investigate and determine coverage onsite of loss and adjusts all elements of Property Loss claims of moderate-high severity.

  • Handle moderate- severe complexity claims assigned under little supervision.

  • Investigate and evaluate onsite to resolve complex coverage and damage issues to include preparing complete estimates of repair for the covered damages.

  • Explain coverage of loss, assists policyholders with itemization of damages, emergency repairs and additional living arrangements.

  • Works with and may coordinate a number of vendor services such as contractors, emergency repair, cleaning services and various replacement services.

  • Identify suspicious losses. Recommend referral to SIU where appropriate and may assist the SIU in their investigation and settling of the claim.

  • May be called upon for catastrophe duty

This role might be for you if you have:

  • Demonstrated understanding of building construction principles.

  • Strong knowledge of claims handling procedures, and a full working knowledge of claims operations and procedures.

  • Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service experience.

  • Effective negotiation skills.

  • Ability to effectively and independently manage workload while exhibiting good judgment.

  • Strong written and communication skills; interpersonal skills; computer skills with the ability to work with multi-faceted systems; and analytical skills.

  • The capabilities, skills and knowledge required is normally acquired through Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and at least 5 years of directly related experience.

  • Completion of advanced property training.

  • Ability to obtain proper licensing as required.

Our Claims Adjusters use their attention to detail to accurately interpret insurance coverage and to assess the structural and personal property damages. Your prior experience in the field, as well as building code and construction knowledge, will allow you accurately investigate, measure, and resolve claims. You must be comfortable climbing roofs and crawling into tight spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.</p> <p> </p> <p>This position entails some overnight travel and you must have the availability to travel on CAT duty regionally and across Kemper's US market as business dictates. As a remote Sr. Property Field Claims Adjuster you may handle more complex losses independently and with minimal direction, you will have the opportunity to work from home.</p> <p> </p> <p>Kemper will provide you a company car, laptop, cell phone, digital camera, and other equipment to set up a home office. This opening is for a Sr. Property Filed Adjuster servicing the Baltimore area.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Position Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>8+ years progressive 1st party personal line property loss experience as a Claim Representative.</li> <li>Education equivalent to a college degree or the equivalent in related work experience; however a college degree is preferred.</li> <li>Advanced estimating software experience required, Xactimate experience is a plus.</li> <li>A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.</li> <li>Ability to travel overnight as needed.</li> <li>Candidate will be working in the Baltimore area</li> </ul> Kemper Baltimore MD
