  • Excell Biosecurity undertakes a variety of animal and plant pest control work across the South Island.

Excell Biosecurity is now looking for a Field Operator to join our highly successful South Canterbury/Otago team to be based at our Cromwell depot.

About the role:

In this busy and diverse role you will be responsible for animal pest control operations in the South Canterbury and Otago region, ensuring we deliver on contract requirements. You will be working either unsupervised or in small teams completing trapping, baiting, surveying and monitoring of pest animals, including possums, pigs and ferrets, so you must be a self-motivated and energetic person. ; You will be spending long periods in the field, so a focus on safety and risk management is required. You must be able to use GPS and hand held recording devices and have the ability to maintain accurate records.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have a love of, and knowledge of the outdoors. ; You must be able to operate and navigate in the outdoors, so physical fitness and confidence in your abilities is imperative. ; Work is carried out all year, and in all weather, so your ability to work in extreme hot, cold or wet weather is essential, as is your ability to cover large distances in rough terrain.

Understanding of animal behaviours through leisure activities or work in a rural environment is essential. ; You will preferably have a firearms and controlled substance license and experience in trapping and use of poisons. ; You must have a clean class 1 and 6 license, ideally combined with first aid and LUV driving qualifications.

An ability to work in a small team or alone is essential. You must have a strong commitment to health and safety and a passion to make a difference to our local environment.

Make cold calls and provide sales support and customer product knowledge training as directed by manager. Implement Lonza merchandising programs at assigned national and local retail outlets. Job Description: For in-store displays within your designated accounts, maintain product which includes transporting products between stockroom and sales floor with equipment (examples: pallet jack, cart); replenishing, facing out, and rotating products; resolving inventory discrepancies; building, changing, and expanding product displays; maintaining product signage; cleaning product space; and evaluating/processing damaged or defective product per policies.
