Job Summary:

Responsible for supervising transportation and disposal services by coordinating day-to-day activities. Responsibilities include manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off loading & coordinating transportation, and sampling/profiling material while adhering to state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science discipline preferred

  • Prior work experience in the hazardous waste/related industry required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Environmental Specialist with Veolia

  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Completed VNA Reactives Training required

Certification/Licenses:

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification Required

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Hazardous (H) endorsement

  • Environmental Specialist III Competency Test

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

  • Strong team player

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Computer proficiency (i.e. VES-TS Field System, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Suite, AS-400, etc.)

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills

  • Knowledge of disposal site capabilities and limitations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise teams in the packing, labeling, manifesting and shipping hazardous waste from the customer(s) site to appropriate disposal centers.

  • Assist in the loading/unloading of hazardous waste materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment such as drum dollies, forklift, etc. to ensure transfer of waste in a safe and timely manner.

  • Recognize and act on opportunities to increase value added services to customers. Maintain professional & courteous communications with internal and external customers on a daily basis.

  • Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VNA policies.

  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all DOT/EPA and VES-TS regulations required in submitting paperwork to expedite disposal of hazardous waste materials.

  • Ensures that DOT requirements such as load weight limits, driver log book, VIR's, transportation permits, insurance cards, fuel trip reports, IFTA fuel stickers, or other paperwork is up to date and valid.

  • Provide mentoring/coaching/training for ES I II, and III's.

Non-Essential Duties and

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness to completion of project(s) in a timely manner.

  • Complete DEA Reverse Distributor Training.

Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for performing all administrative duties associated with the service operations department so that the department functions efficiently and cost effectively. Essential duties and responsibilities: * Performs Install Base maintenance as needed. Creates safety inspection tickets * Updates on-call lists, sends detailed notification to TK Communications daily. Checks technicians in/out, sends down car listing and communicates information to Regional Dispatch and supervisors * Review thyssenkupp Communications callback report to identify all callbacks held for AM service. Verify manpower has been assigned * Review unassigned tickets with service superintendent or service manage * Provides status to NTL and customers on open work orders, and completed callbacks. Updates PM ticket with the monthly work order # * Review and update branch flowchart, Shared Calendar, On Call Manager and On Car List * Obtain updates from superintendent to update the Down Car List. Communicate down car information to dispatching * Provides status to NTL and customers on open work orders, completed callbacks and repairs. Update PM ticket with the monthly work order # * Acts as liaison between the branch operations and regional dispatch; maintains shared calendars for dispatch with field attendance and work scheduling. Reviews open ticket reports and submits to dispatch * Tracks Job Sight audits * Assists mechanics with ITS downloads, PDA troubleshooting and PDA ordering, brochures and tools.
