Support the District's Operations Bureau by using your field operations expertise. This position will be responsible for the maintenance of District conservation lands which includes prescribed burn support, fence replacement, buildings, and recreation sites, preparing field reports and managing the section's work order system. The Field Operations Supervisor coordinates inspection schedules and maintenance plans for District roads, culverts, bridges, airboat slides, and data collection sites. This position will participate in all aspects of District emergency operations. Starting Compensation: $54,496.00 - $66,275.00

The starting salary range is included for the Field Supervisor profile which reflects the minimum to approximately 30% of the respective pay grade. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions

  • Directly supervise four (4) District staff. Monitors and evaluates assigned staff in their performance of assigned or delegated tasks. Identify development needs by coaching and mentoring staff.

  • Supervise, evaluate, plan, and schedule the daily work of field crews on projects involving erosion control, canal and road maintenance, mowing, disking, clearing, and prescribed burns.

  • Oversee staff performing routine and preventative maintenance. Assist in developing maintenance programs.

  • Assist in implementing the safety program and conduct safety inspections.

  • Assist with the section's budget activities to include purchase requisitions.

  • Respond to inquiries and resolves complaints from the public.

  • Participate in District projects, site meetings with contractors and other government agencies.

  • Obtain competitive quotes, procure materials and acquire building permits.

  • Conduct supervisory administrative duties such as reviewing and approving timecards, reporting, submitting auxiliary fuel sheets, reviewing vehicle utilization and other administrative duties as assigned.

  • Support emergency functions before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations such as hurricanes, wildfires, flood control, or other declared emergencies.

Required Credentials for Field Operations Supervisor Opportunity

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and Seven (7) years related work experience OR Associates Degree' (or higher) and Five (5) years related work experience

  • Incident Command System (ICS)/National Incident Management System (NIMS)

  • ICS-100, ICS-700, & ICS-800 training is required within one (1) year of hire
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience which may include supervising crews or other junior level staff

  • Valid driver's license

  • State of Florida Class A CDL with tanker endorsement

  • Incident command

  • ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-195, IS-700 & IS-800; Advanced incident command ICS-300 & ICS-400
  • Wildland fire
  • S-130, S-190, & L-180 & BFCT wildfire training
  • Valid Florida Forestry Service Prescribed Burners Certificate

  • Florida storm water and erosion management

The District will determine eligibility for employment solely from the information provided on a District employment application. Additional Details

This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., out of the Brooksville, FL office. This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours, in a week.

The Field Operations Supervisor is a safety sensitive position. As such, the employee will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
