Perform tasks involving physical labor and mechanical aptitude including pump installation, well service, maintenance, rehabilitation, abandoning, well sampling and various repair services. Operation of a variety of hand and power tools, large vehicles requiring a Commercial Driver's License. This position may involve the exposure to dangerous chemicals.
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrated the knowledge and ability to perform the responsibilities and duties.
Commercial Driver's License, preferably class A.
Ability to maintain a clean driving motor vehicle record as routinely verified through the Department of Transportation.
Water/wastewater distribution treatment operations.
Water/wastewater distribution system repair procedures and operations.
Water sampling procedures
General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical equipment and maintenance tools.
General knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy construction work.
Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands, and two feet) and multi-limb coordination.
Follow written and verbal instructions.
Troubleshoot potential on site problems.
Think and work independently to problem solve.
Enter and exit confined spaces in accordance with established procedures.
Safe operation of mechanical equipment, hand and power tools, heavy equipment and company fleet of vehicles.
Understand and properly utilize Personal Protective Equipment.
Perform general maintenance and inspection of company equipment and tools and report problems to Operations Manager.
Must be able to lift, move and manipulate objects up to 50 pounds routinely and consistently with heavier weights at times.
Must be able to lift, move and manipulate objects up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, manipulate and utilize materials.
Operation of heavy equipment including but not limited to: backhoes, forklifts, derricks, boom cranes, cable tool drill rigs and pump rigs.
Operate power and hand tools including but not limited to: power tongs, chain tongs, welders, grinders, generators, compressors, meters and other equipment as required to performing essential job functions.
Install, repair and read meters, pumps, turbines and all other equipment as required.
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, cold, and exposure to chemicals.
Excellent physical stamina is required.
Material handling and proper storage.
Monitor water and/or wastewater systems for safe and efficient operation.
Plan and prepare equipment and all needed materials prior to leaving the yard.
Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate any/all potential hazards.
Perform customer service by communicating directly with clients, co-workers and management through verbal and written skills.
Comply with safety regulations and maintain accurate paperwork including but not limited to: driver's log books, daily work reports, maintenance and vehicle reports, incident and accident reports, pump and well reports.
Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Field Operations Manager or Human Resources.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the general public.
Ability to travel out of town with overnight stays.
Available for emergency service work as needed with short notice.
All other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
