The Field Operations Manager will assist in development of project metrics and execution to track and analyze cost and productivity to estimate, guide both project management and field personnel in proper planning and execution of the work, and ensure compliance with the safety program, National Electric Code, and other applicable codes. The Field Operations Manager responsibilities include managing the optimum work force to include the training and professional development of the employees. This individual will need to develop and implement business strategies that serve the overall strategic goals, mission, vision, and core values of the company.

The ideal candidate for this role should have exceptional organizational skills, self-motivated, and result driven. Project management experience desired, strong leadership qualities and strong people skills are needed.

Position Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, the Field Operations Manager must be able to perform each Essential Duty successfully. The requirements listed below are indicative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate is perhaps the most important skill that a Field Operations Manager must require. You need to transmit information and instructions in a clear and effective manner to people who may not understand due to experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment, materials, and tools of the electrical trade.

  • Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work and demonstrable commitment to safety.

  • Ability to supervise the work of skilled workers.

  • Considerable knowledge of the National Electrical Code for electrical installations.

  • Ability to interpret and work from instructions, submittals, specifications, and drawings.

  • Ability to estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining labor, time, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.

  • Flexibility, able to adapt and comply with Company/Client requirements.

  • Ability to work with, interact with other trades.

  • Has a desire to learn and develop within the role.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum 10 years of commercial and industrial electrical construction experience

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience

  • Prior electrical project management experience highly desired

Responsibilities:

Scheduling:

  • Oversee scheduling of field personnel to meet project manpower requirements.

  • Track and forecast immediate and projected labor needs.

  • Manage supplemental labor through subcontracts & temporary labor companies.

  • Effectively allocate resources and manpower (Right People/Right Seat).

  • Coordinate & approve field PTO based on manpower requirements.

Training & Development:

  • Assist in identifying and supporting field employee training needs and opportunities.

  • Assist project manager and foreman in creating project cost breakdowns, hour trackers, and identify periodic goals to follow.

  • Assist project managers and foreman in developing project specific schedules.

  • Conduct periodic one-on-one meetings with direct reports and coordinate annual field employee evaluations.

  • Identify and enforce quality control standards.

Leadership & Accountability:

  • Direct oversight of and discipline of all field personnel.

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of workforce hiring.

  • Enforcement of employee policies and safety program for field employees.

  • Communicate and Develop Relationships with General Contractors / Owners and act as the face of the company.

  • Implement, track, and enforce foreman expectations. (i.e. - job reporting, dailies, projections, progress meeting reports, and as-built documentation).

  • Participate in monthly project status meetings.

  • Participate in Pre-Construction Turn Over & Close-out Meetings.

  • Implement strategies to consistently improve employee engagement.

  • Make site visits to evaluate projects on a regular basis and to effectively communicate and engage with employees, contractors, and Owners.

Supervisory Requirements:

Superintendents and Foreman will report to the Field Operations Manager.

Relationship Requirements:

This position will represent BBEC, Inc. in a professional, cordial manner at all times to ensure customer and employee satisfaction. The Field Operations Manager reports to the Vice President of Operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain or snow.

  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities

  • Job requires employee to have required personal tools with them at all times

  • Work from all types of ladders

  • Perform work at various heights, up to 90 from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas

  • Work in restricted areas (switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics)

  • Wear personal protective equipment at all times hard hat and safety glasses

  • Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers

  • Able to work eight (8) hour days, forty (40) hour weeks and overtime as required plus night shift if applicable

  • Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead

  • Lift 50 pounds

  • Possess good vision normal or corrected
