Tesla is seeking a Field Manager and they will be responsible for providing technicians with training opportunities, following up on open cases, managing schedules, and fulfilling preventative maintenance obligations. The Field Manager will be responsible for post installation service work as it relates to performance and system uptime.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Field Manager will be directly managing at least 20 Field Service Technicians and will ensure that they are trained and are working in a safe manner

  • Formulate performance improvement plans and makes termination decisions as necessary

  • Interview, select, and train new employees

  • Mentor, evaluate, and develop employees

  • The Field Manager will be required to exercise discretion and independent judgment while overseeing the work of the Field Service techs and their successful completion of work orders as they relate to troubleshooting down or under performing systems

  • Track and report on installation trends resulting in post installation work orders

  • Manage the case load of individual technicians and allocating necessary resources to resolve problems in an expeditious manner

  • Evaluate the work of Field Service Technicians and provide yearly performance reviews

  • Provide necessary "On-boarding" and training resources to Field Service Technicians

  • Work with Engineering and Training departments to ensure corrective actions are taken to avoid future service calls

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Will have 2+ years of experience working within maintenance and operations

  • Experience working as a manager of 10 or more people.

  • Ability to manage voluminous amounts of data

  • Experiencing writing Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Reports.

  • Will have 2+ years' experience creating Scopes of Work for maintenance or electrical services.

  • Recent training and current certification as required in OSHA / NFPA 70E / Safety

  • Experience with PV system commissioning

  • Some amount of experience (or at least exposure) with wireless communication and TCP/IP communication protocol (utilized by SolarCity proprietary Data Acquisition System)

  • Excellent computer skills especially using Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills both from a technical and client facing perspective

  • Excellent customer service skills required

  • Clean DMV printout and valid Driver License

  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time within the RFSM territory

  • Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required

  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal screen. Additional pre-employment driving and drug screens may be required based on job responsibilities

As a member of the this team, the Lead Field Service Associate will help lead a team to successfully complete quality upgrades on PV systems. The Lead Field Service Associate acts as the overall lead on a job site. It is the responsibility of every team member to ensure safe work practices for Tesla's O&M team. New hire training and continued training will be provided. RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide leadership and technical expertise to the Field Service team members * Remove solar PV system * Upgrade system and perform quality checks * Re-install and commission system * Prepare and clean-up job site * Ensure all related equipment necessary for the installation is available and onsite * Communicate job status to the customer and leadership * Document and update job status in the company database * Lead efforts for safe work practices for the installation teams * Attend weekly team meetings * Provide an exceptional customer experience to all customers throughout the process * Additional duties required as needed * Travel may be required REQUIREMENTS * 3-5 years' experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry including 2 years of solar PV installation experience * Minimum 6 months leading a crew of two or more * Understanding of the NEC codes that relate to solar PV installations * Ability to lift 50 lbs. * Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, etc.) * Capable of working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs; and performing repetitious duties, including lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time * Experience using basic hand and power tools * Basic computer skills * Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills * Must have excellent customer service skills * Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success * Ability to work well with and lead others in a collaborative team environment * Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements Tesla Motors Chatsworth CA
