Field Engineering Support Coordinator

Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring an Engineering Support Coordinator. In this job you will be a part of our Field Engineering team, responsible for performing a wide variety of complex and paraprofessional engineering support activities under the general supervision of engineers.

You will be the first point of contact for our customers (residential, commercial and developers) for electric & natural gas services. Working in one of the most plugged in groups within Colorado Springs Utilities, will allow you to successfully coordinate and manage broad engineering projects. If you have demonstrated experience in field services, have managed complex projects, and enjoy working collaboratively with customers, we want to hear from you! This position will provide you the opportunity to work with a wide variety of stakeholders across organizational boundaries.

How you will make an impact:

  • Prepare construction drawings (AutoCAD) and materials specifications; ensures that construction materials meet specifications

  • Review drawings for land / subdivision development, discuss existing layouts, and work with individual home owners and commercial customers

  • This work ranges in scope from large land development projects to reviewing individual residential customer service changes

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for customers during the design and construction phase, you will reviewing contracts, understand and interpret tariffs, costs, prepare time and material estimates, and review and design projects using AutoCAD and other engineering applications

  • Analyze existing and proposed systems to assist in decision-making processes; generating creative solutions; offering new ideas and concepts that may impact efficiency and reduce costs

  • Coordinate with various departments, customers and regulatory agencies

  • Work with various departments (gas & electric planning, maintenance, energy construction, QC inspectors, etc.)

  • Take pictures and document information obtained as you perform pre- and post-construction site visits

  • During inclement weather, be involved in storm patrols to assist in coordinating efforts to investigate the nature of the outages

Who You Are:

  • Seven or more years of demonstrated experience working in the field (electric or gas utility preferred), or an Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering Degree from an accredited institution

  • Familiarity with the principals of AutoCAD

This role serves as an advocate for field international staff between multiple Mission Services departments and facilitates feedback to continually improve systems, processes and training. Essential Duties: Training * Partner with the Training department to support design and implementation of YL Connect training and methodology for international field operations. * Assist in training and coordinating divisional YL Connect representatives. * Assist the YL Connect Training department with implementing the YL Connect Training Model. * Lead and participate in online and webinar office hours and training sessions. * Continually lead training effort for new international staff with Basic training. * Help expand Advanced training to build competency for users in platform capabilities. Support * Partner and collaborate with integrated support teams (Help Desk, Income processing, Mission Assistance, Camping, etc.) to equip local field operations for success. * Gain and leverage expertise in YL Connect for area, regional and divisional roles in support of field and admin staff. * Provide timely and Christ-like support related to YL Connect and additional operational systems: * Chatter support * Telephone support * Email support * Zoom support: Remotely troubleshoot issues for staff in YL Connect. * Build a rapport amongst multiple level field staff and department staff that creates an approachable environment for supporting operational needs. Maintain excellent customer relations. * Assist in providing basic operational, procedural and policy support for multiple departments including but not exclusive to YL Connect, Human Resources, Camping Services, Income Processing, and Financial Services. * Escalate complications to specific functional departments or supervisor. * Track and communicate problem solving steps for successful and satisfactory resolution. * Special projects as assigned by supervisor. Feedback * Synthesize feedback and suggest improvements to policies, processes and systems to simplify and decrease field operational strain. * Track feedback through various channels and prioritize training requirements to YL Connect Training department. * Document current and proposed improved operational processes for field enablement. * Communicate consistent field requests by working within defined support and escalating guidelines. * Host focus groups for YL Connect and other operational functions as required. * Provide field insight for product development including YL Connect. * Identify and communicate product ideas and process requirements to improve operations. International Specific Essential Duties * Train and support YL Connect functionality specific to International (Ex: language and currency support). * Actively participate in the rollout of YL Connect Products to the International field. * Coordinate ongoing platform translation efforts. * Be the listening ear for International-specific feedback and communicate feedback to appropriate Mission Services channels * Work with the training, support and feedback leads to internationalize any content being distributed to the field and help apply it to our International staff. * Help represent International requirements on project/product teams. * Bring International insight to Mission Services support teams in order to help globalize various Mission Services teams. * Fundraising for specified personal budget. Working Conditions: * Service Center environment. * Potential International travel. * Available to work with staff in a variety of time zones. Qualifications: * Deep understanding of Young Life culture required. * Young Life field staff experience highly recommended. Volunteer Leader experience also preferred. * Ability to work with multi-cultural perspectives and adapt as needed. * Has confidence and proficiency operating within current technology (apps, updated software, etc.). * Availability and adaptability to work with all levels of field staff (including senior leadership), among divisional teams, and across Mission Services departments. * Have a general knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities for International ministry. * Has demonstrated skills in training and providing support as well as shows a desire to learn, help others and serve as a resource. * Relational and has a winsome way with proven written and verbal communication skills. * Multi-lingual preferred. * Must maintain confidentiality.
