As a Donor Screening Hybrid Field Application Specialist/Field Engineering Specialist at Roche you will provide Molecular Diagnostics and Clinical Diagnostics support for new and existing customers. In this role you will provide highly visible customer support through the performance of moderately complex on-site installation, and customer training, reagent applications and product conversions for Molecular Diagnostics/Clinical Diagnostics-Donor Screening instruments, applications, and products.

Provide technical expertise through sales presentations and/or product demonstrations. Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications for the development, implementation and customization of customer application/solutions. Assesses training needs of customers and delivers product training as needed. Responds to requests for technical assistance in proper use of products from customers.

This field-based role involves up to 75% overnight travel throughout the United States. Our ideal candidate would reside within 1 hour from a major US airport.

Job Facts:

  • Provide moderately complex analyzer, reagent, and/or IT product technical and troubleshooting support.

  • Help perform on-site installations, verifications, calibration and/or upgrades and patches of assigned Roche equipment, software applications and/or systems in accordance with department guidelines.

  • Monitor equipment and system performance ensuring operational quality and report issues to higher levels.

  • Conduct on-site customer training; training key operators and provide retraining for customers on the maintenance of equipment, applications and/or systems.

  • Support sales activities by promoting Roche products, finding opportunities for new product integration, and conducting system demonstrations and technical presentations as required.

  • Provide customer support related to laboratory workflows, improving system efficiencies, space and implementation planning.

  • Maintain knowledge of the donor screening industry, products and technologies.

  • Document and process all service and customer account related reports, updates and emails in a compliant, timely, and professional manner.

  • Maintain contact with in-house technical support areas, sales, marketing, and management per policy.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

  • 3 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory/blood screening environment

  • Experience with blood banking is preferred

  • Bachelor's in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology or Clinical Laboratory

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Good written/verbal communication skills as well as project management experience

  • Strong customer consultative skills which include application of scientific knowledge and analysis, exceptional customer engagement, and fostering of customer relationships.

  • Ability to coach and mentor junior staff and lead by example

  • Previous experience as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) or equivalent clinical laboratory experience

  • Effective planning/organizational/time management skills

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of North Carolina is $84,800.00 - 157,600.00 USD annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is eligible to earn incentive compensation that is calculated and paid in accordance with the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan for the role.
