Your planned career:

Working on-site at our client locations, the Field Engineer will be in a technical and operational support role, learning and using our equipment such as fracturing pumps, blenders, hydration units and working within the data van. The intent will be to use this role as a learning step to a Field Leader role, where you will gain the knowledge to manage multiple different crews, problem-solving and strategically planning our operations. Once promoted to a Field Leader position you will perform QC/QA daily while on shift, provide leadership from an operational, quality and safety standpoint, and provide clear and concise communication to the client. The Field Engineer role is a progression role where Engineers will develop their skill set to deliver quality operations, learning our equipment, attending substantial training and developing both technical and tactical skills needed for an HRO environment.

What you will do:

  • Understanding and completing job designs including fluids, proppant, volumes, and additives based on a basic open hole log review and/or pump schedules

  • Performing tasks with data acquisition software, hydraulic fracturing pumps, blenders, and hydration units

  • Providing on-site computer modeling and data acquisition software support

  • Performing net pressure, observed net pressure, and measured bottom hole pressure analysis

  • Understanding and monitoring pressure matching

  • Maintaining real-time mass balance data on proppant and fracturing additives

  • Preparing and distributing post job reports and post well hydraulic fracturing summaries

  • Performing tasks to ensure quality assurance of all on-site materials

  • Performing tasks to track material delivery rates for quality control

  • Communicating with on-site customers in a professional manner

  • Performing tasks for an on-site water analysis

  • Providing additional support for multiple fleets when needed

  • Rig up/down backside equipment as needed and learn how to run and troubleshoot

  • You will be required to learn the fracturing system, including all equipment

  • Attending all required on the job training, classroom-based and online training and working through your progression plans.


What you need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Industrial Engineering/Science preferred

  • Experience in or knowledge of Process Engineering is a plus

  • Experience with process improvement techniques (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.)

  • Must have strong computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft products

  • Working knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, technical skill, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and external contacts

  • Must be able to learn company-specific applications

  • Must have a satisfactory driving record

  • Willing to work flexible schedule and travel as needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ABILITIES

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the environment is moderate to loud.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, lift up to 50 pounds. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell; lift more than 100 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

VIEW JOBS 4/6/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-05T00:00 JOB PURPOSE: The Field Operator is responsible for driving, operating, and maintaining Fracturing Services equipment such as the Frac Pump, Nitrogen (N2) Pump, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Pump, Bulking Equipment, Belt Assist Sand Storage (BASS) and Auxiliary Sand Trucks and Equipment. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for learning and identifying all pieces of treating iron for fracturing jobs (i.e. floppers, check valves, dart valves, 2x1 valves, suction manifolds, hoses, etc), and applying acquired knowledge in the field. * Responsible for driving and operating heavier and more complex Fracturing trucks and equipment (i.e. Frac, CO2, N2 pumps, etc) * Reviews and completes Fracturing Head Logs to ascertain how much, and at what speed, sand/fluid can be pumped. * Maintains fluid pumps by performing minor repairs and by changing parts (i.e. valves, packing, plungers, etc) * Utilizes Remote Panel by manipulating gears and throttles to control the speed and pressure at which fluids are pumped * Monitors control panels to gauge pressure, flow, revolutions per minute (RPMs), and other diagnostic information of equipment (i.e. transmission lock-ups, rig savers, etc) * With guidance from Supervisors, adjusts increase / decrease fluid pressure and flow as required * Completes load / off-load paperwork (Transport of Dangerous Goods) as needed for Nitrogen pump jobs * Performs rigging in / out duties for fracturing equipment for service; contributes to safe rigging operations during and after service delivery * Lifts, carries and moves iron pipes and fracturing equipment to / from trucks and well site * Aligns, assembles and disassembles iron and fracturing pieces * Acts as a mentor to Operators in Training and Operator 1 level employees. Assists in training and provides guidance on safe and effective operating procedures. * Maintains truck and equipment to BJ Services standards, and ensures all equipment, including personal protective equipment, is in proper working order. o Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water pre-and post trip * Performs routine maintenance on fracturing equipment (i.e. quarterly maintenance inspections, 200 & 400 hour inspections and services on trucks and equipment). * Troubleshoots any problems with equipment and ensures damaged or defective parts get repaired * Completes required paperwork and submits it to the appropriate parties accurately and on time (i.e. Critical Well Checklist, fuel log report, timesheets and log books, maintenance reports, month-end expense reports, trip permits, etc). * Maintains BJ Services Safety Standards always: shop, yard, location and while traveling. * Reports all hazards or potentially hazardous situations, accidents, incidents and injuries immediately to supervisor. * Attends weekly Safety Meetings. * All other duties assigned QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or equivalent * Commercial Driver License (CDL A) * Preferred with Hazmat & Tanker endorsement * 2+ years of previous Fracturing experience * Demonstration of competence on Frac, N2 and CO2 pumps and equipment * Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG), and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) * Strong attention to detail * Ability to work as part of a team; strong sense of teamwork * Problem recognition and solving skills * Highly safety conscious * Highly motivated * Ability to work a work schedule of 15 days on, 6 days off, and travel up to 100% * Ability to work overtime EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER BJ Services provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
