As a Field Engineer Intern you will be tasked with taking on real-work responsibilities that directly impact the projects. You will work directly with field operations, office engineering, or estimating groups throughout the 10-12 week internship. This position is for a co-op starting in at the end of summer working through Fall 2019 semester.

District Overview

TIC Marine and Heavy Civil self-performs marine projects with company-owned equipment for both the public and private sector, historically focusing on the east coast. Our construction operations are supported by our in-house equipment department, fabrication facility and machine shop to streamline projects for our owners. Using our own equipment and fabrication facility allow us to maintain control over critical scopes, ensuring that the project stays on schedule.

Past heavy-civil experiences include concrete, steel, cast in place box, flat slab, railroad trestle and arch bridges, bridge widening, bascule and swing bridges, box culverts, storm drainage, erosion control, dike and levee construction, concrete paving, tunnels and sound barriers.

Our Marine experience includes lock and dam repairs, docks, demolition, Navy wharfs, water intake structures, steel, concrete, composite and timber piling, fender systems, dolphins, piers, dredging, marinas and LNG facilities.

Location

Savannah, GA is home to TIC Marine & Heacvy Civil, a subsidiary of Kiewit. Most of our projects are within a 90-mile radius of the city, allowing our employees to not only to plant roots in the South, but build relationships with our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Direct or assist with all project Safety, Quality and Compliance programs and processes. This is our first and foremost focus

  • Field Operations: Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft, prepare work plans and work packages, order and schedule material deliveries

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing your Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management or related degree

  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climates and environments

  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time

  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity

  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

The selected student(s) for this position must be available to work 16 to 30 hours per week January through May. Expected timeline for our internship selection period: * This position will be posted until 12/11/2018 * Resumes will be reviewed in December * You should know in late December if you will be moving on to the interview stage in the process Principal Duties and Responsibilities: You will be working with the team developing and supporting the sustainment solutions that support Gulfstream's Product Support applications. This internship provides an opportunity to interface with many different departments across the enterprise. Primary duties will include assisting the core team to develop, test and document. Within the internship, you may be tasked with developing business processes, gathering requirements, investigating trouble tickets from the business, writing and executing test scripts, and data analysis. * Assists the team with delivering business process that provides the appropriate functionality to change and sustain the business. * Assists in troubleshooting issues with a portfolio of applications. * Assists team with making improvements in functionality. * Assists the team with developing functional specifications and working with the development team to address any changes once they are approved. * Assists with reporting needs of the business and develops an understanding of the reporting tools available in the suite and how to apply them. * Helps to coordinate the resolution of process-related trouble tickets with the assistance of team members. Education and Experience Requirements: * Currently pursuing a bachelor or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or a closely related field of study * Junior level or above * Minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA at the time of application required and must be listed on the submitted resume. GPA must remain above a 2.8 through the Spring semester.
