Job Title: Field Engineer

Job Description

This position is for a Field Engineer in Aftermarket and Service who operates under minimal supervision. You will install, test, service, and repair complex equipment to conform with company operating specifications and customer requirements. You will also lead lower-level staff in maintaining and analyzing equipment logs to identify repair needs and required methods. This role relies on moderate to extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Start up, commission, and re-commission customer Building Automation Systems.
  • Provide solutions to complex systems problems either by troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems.
  • Work with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Deliver turnkey projects on medium to large projects.
  • Handle large complex AHUs (Multi-Zone/VFD/Mult-coil) and complex CW systems with 3 or more boilers.
  • Assist with EPMS/Third Party integration.
  • Manage 3rd party networks.
  • Complete all required commissioning documentation.
  • Maintain accurate As-Built drawing packages and make changes in EDS, Visio, Excel, Word, as required.
  • Complete paperwork on time, including time sheets, expense reports, work orders, on-site documentation, and project status reports.
  • Responsible for total system operation from controllers to sensors, loading software, and interfacing with third-party systems.
  • Set up trends, alarms, and reports, and work with customer IT personnel.
  • Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment such as multimeters, network terminals, and/or a laptop computer.
  • Perform static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming.
  • Conduct site-specific training for the owner/operator on the total system.
  • Set up operator workstations with all associated software.
  • Perform job database backups daily or as advised.
  • Assist with project turnover to the Service Department.
  • Mentor and develop Field Engineers on all field tools and technology. Serve as a technical resource.
  • Assist sales in the development of cost estimates on semi-complex projects.
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
  • Track and record job progress and keep customers informed on progress.
  • Review customer's systems and, if needed, point out areas of improvement and scope issues to the project manager.
  • Keep project management apprised of customer concerns and issues.
  • Maintain a daily log of all pertinent job-related activities.
  • Adhere to safety standards with a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

Essential Skills

  • Field Service experience
  • 3+ years of HVAC controls related experience
  • Experience with calibration systems
  • Experience with multimeters and commissioning
  • Experience with HVAC

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Engineering degree preferred
  • Commissioning experience is a plus
  • Experience with WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, Supervision, and Accel Works

Work Environment

You will work in various customer sites, handling a range of equipment and software. The role involves using electronic test equipment such as multimeters, network terminals, and laptops. The position requires adherence to safety standards and may involve mentoring and developing lower-level staff. You will collaborate with subcontractors and other trades to ensure system operations and customer satisfaction.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $45.70/hr.
