This position develops and coordinates validation of the competencies of nursing staff and Health Center staff to ensure proper care and treatment of residents/patients.
Responsible for developing and implementing a mentor program in identifying training needs while providing support to the identified shift personnel. Ensures that training is delivered in an understandable way.
Adheres to federal and state regulations, and follows all policies and procedures. Qualified candidates will have experience as an Education and Training Director, Staff Development Coordinator, Nurse Educator, or Director of Nursing. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Regional Director of Education and Training is responsible for the education, training and growth of assigned health center staff and new employees at health centers specific to each district; therefore, must be willing to travel between centers for this position. This position is responsible for coordinating, teaching, and implementing the nursing competencies and the mentor program. To promote and ensure proper care and treatment of residents/patients.
Responsible for developing and implementing a mentor program in identifying training needs while providing support to the identified shift personnel. Provides training in a delivered in an understandable way.
Adheres to federal and state regulations, and follows all Fortis policies and procedures.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: No direct reports. Supports and guides the center's mentor shift personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Assesses the learning needs of the staff through direct observation, formal learning assessments and indirectly through review of quality improvement and/or program evaluation. Plans, conducts, monitors and assists in tracking trainings to meet the staffs training needs.
Coordinates and participates in the center orientations and multi-center orientations where applicable of all new employees. Provides modules during orientation to all employees using the appropriate materials. Plans, schedules and implements training for Health Center's new staff under the direction of the EDBA with input from the EDCS and DCS.
Coordinates, implements and assists in maintaining records of all in-servicing for all staff. Responsible for running appropriate compliance summary reports to ensure accountability. Coordinates the use of educational equipment and resources.
Performs other staff education duties as required or directed for compliance with State and Federal Regulations. Responsible for ABAQIS training and prepares supplementary education materials as required. Assists in tracking, evaluating, and measuring the impact of training programs and learning activities on staff.
Treats all residents/patients, visitors and staff with courtesy. Attends and participates in in-service training, Quality Performance Improvement (QPI) committees and other meetings as scheduled and directed. Provides effective communication with NHA and other team members.
Does not participate and/or share on call status with other center nursing managers. Safety a. Knows and follows health center rules. b.
Demonstrates proper use of equipment. Reports equipment needs or repairs. c. Follows health center smoking policies. d.
Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate personnel, if witnessed. e. Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in the Health Center Disaster Plan. f. Uses required protective equipment. g.
Follows infection control standards, policies and procedures. h. Follows Health Center dress and hygiene policies. i. Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment and initiates action to correct the issue and reports to appropriate department head.
Resident Rights a. Incorporates Resident Rights in daily job performance. Helps residents exercise and/or protect their rights. b.
Reports resident complaints to management team. c. Maintains confidentiality of resident information. HIPAA a.
Follows and adheres to Fortis policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information. b. Uses and/or discloses only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. c. Reports all suspected violation of companys HIPAA policies or procedures to Health Center Privacy Designee and to the Milwaukee Corporate Compliance Officer or representative.
Complies with all laws and regulations applicable to position and acts in accordance with Fortis Compliance Program. Responsible for communicating with Executive Director and DON at the completion of each training visit. Reports of visits maintained on shared drive like the DCS reports or where applicable, will scan data and forward to administrative assistant for record keeping.
Has a current drivers license and insurance and is willing to drive to various health centers. Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned and as necessity dictates per the Executive Director of Business Administration.
Minimum Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Currently licensed in the state as Registered Nurse. Experience: Minimum of two years nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care setting.
Prior role in training or education is required. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Has a good understanding of basic PC skills to include but not limited to email, Word, Power point, Excel.
Demonstrates clinical competency and current RN skills. Strong oral/presentation, written communication skills and basic computer skills. Ability to work with diverse groups of people: residents, families, community members, other staff and volunteers.
Meet all health requirements imposed by law. Must have current CPR certification. CPR trainer certification is a plus and would greatly encourage obtaining certification within six months of hire.
Where applicable in state specific areas, the method of instruction must be completed. Although, certification in CNA training is not required it would be encouraged to obtain such certification within one year of hire. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The responsibilities of this position involve significant physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 60 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling. All employees of nursing centers may be required to provide lifting and transfer assistance to residents/patients.
Lifting and/or transferring some residents/patients will require use of a lifting device and/or assistance of other staff. May be exposed to illness, blood, and body fluids, therefore personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
