Job Overview
Due to company growth we are seeking Field Construction Superintendent to join our Distributed Generation Program in Portland, Maine.
Job Description:
The Field Construction Superintendent, led by the Construction Project Manager coordinates and supervises all construction and on-site electromechanical tasks, as well as the civil work. The FCS coordinates the schedule with the Construction Project Manager with regard to the required site progress, the resources required and their mobilization and demobilization in time, and the corrective measures necessary in order to accomplish the work as far as safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
Responsibilities:
Field Support to Fix Problems Being Proactive
Make notifications to open and close daily work. Check perimeter of substation/ ROW at beginning and end of shift. Call Energy Control Center & Security Ops Center as needed
Must do Reporting Weekly Report, Monthly Reports, site weekly minutes of meetings.
Monitor Schedule
Attend the contractors safety, environment, and Quality meetings and maintain updated the H&S, Environment, and Quality project binder
Conduct weekly project progress meeting/ Request the contractor two-week look-ahead schedule at each weekly meeting
Must be always On-site whenever work is being performed (make a frequent observation of contractors activities and adherence to M&PT when in public ROW). Immediate notification to PM of any and all problems or foreseeable issues throughout construction or any complaint presented by the general public
Coordinate Material delivery between the Clients Stockroom, and Contractor and Inspect all project-related construction material for damage and completeness for the project execution
Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications, quality, and adherence to construction schedules
Facilitate resolving construction problems, discrepancies, procedures, and methods by working with engineering personnel, inspectors, contractors, and suppliers
Minimize Change Orders. Support Project Manager Services to review any requested Change Orders/Notices or other claims submitted by Construction Contractors
Adhere to company policies, programs, and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and NEC
Review and understand the project Documentation and any related documentation and provide input to enhance the constructability of the project, taking into account schedule, cost, and quality
Maintain a project change order and correspondence log
Maintain a daily on-site as-built project plans
Continuously communicate (written and verbally) with the associated PM
Coordinate with all local and state municipalities throughout project execution
Assist with Review and concurrence of HASP from each contractor
Create and maintain Quality and Safety Inspections, Reports, Documentation
Provide Safety Orientation to the workers and to ensure the test is filled as well as carry out daily safety briefing prior to work start (and get a copy of the contractor daily brief)
Ensure that visitors have an escort during the visit
Daily safety inspections and supervision of the activities and at least to carry out a weekly written inspection
Ensure that any accident, incident, near miss or injury is reported and investigated and collaborate in Client incident report
Propose Corrective Action reports and Preventive Action Report (CAR/PAR) to the SHEQ manager and collaborate in the implementation
Requirements:
Minimum of an Associate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent education with 5+ years of professional experience in electric utility construction
3+ years prior supervisory experience in utility construction strongly preferred
Utility construction experience must include low voltage installation of equipment (i.e. solar), pole placement, some civil work, and permitting
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
Proven experience in verification of data with commissioning and testing Engineers and Distribution Field planning group
Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering diagrams and construction drawings; distribution lines, ITP (inspection and test plan)
1+ years of Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 experience is highly appreciated.
Proven ability to create plans daily, weekly, and two-week forecast to ensure materials on site on time and maximize construction day
OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Certification or ability to complete same within thirty days
Must have a valid, clear Drivers License
Must be willing to travel to construction sites on a day to day basis to attend meetings and work outside on-site under varied weather conditions
Current US Work Authorization is required; Maine residents will receive first consideration
