Department Profile:
The Field Management division consists of Morgan Stanley's network of ~16K Financial Advisors across ~600 branches representing ~$5.5T in client assets. The group is responsible for driving new assets for the firm's full-service Wealth Management business and managing client relationships across our Advisor, Workplace, and Direct segments.
The Division is split between Wealth Management Field and Field Management Home Office (Corporate Management team). The Field Management Home Office: internal "corporate" team is responsible for managing and driving strategic initiatives for the broader Wealth Management Field organization; various teams include Field Business Management ("FBM"), Practice Strategy & FAA Talent Management, and Field Service.
Field Business Management ("FBM") reports directly to the Head of Field Management and is focused on ensuring that that Morgan Stanley's competitive advantage and scale in Wealth Management manifests itself into the day-to-day business planning, operations and execution for the Field. We partner between corporate and Field colleagues in a collaborative, transparent, innovative, and data-driven way to unlock value for our Financial Advisor channel. FBM's responsibilities are split across four verticals: 1) The Advisor Legacy Program (ALP), 2) Manager Compensation Policy & Program Management, 3) Financial Advisor Compensation, and 4) Asset Retention and Recovery.
Position Summary:
The Field Business Management ("FBM") organization is seeking a dynamic and strategic-minded individual to join our team as a Vice President (VP) of Business Management & Strategy.
In this role, you will play a key part in driving the development as well as the day-to-day execution of the Advisor Legacy Program ("ALP") as well as supporting the broader Advisor Succession Planning strategy & execution efforts. The ALP team drives projects and initiatives across several strategic focus areas: 1) evolving the program strategy, 2) modernizing program analytics, 3) executing across broader business strategies, including day to day engagement with Advisors, and 4) driving tech enhancements to efficiently scale program execution with partner groups.
The role is also expected to have an expanded remit for the Manager Compensation Policy team within the FBM organization overseeing the day-to-day operational activities as well as drive further strategic agenda for the broader organization.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communications, critical thinking, interpersonal and leadership skills. A firm understanding of the Wealth Management business is critical to the success of this role.
Key accountabilities for this role include the following:
Business Management
Continue to evolve the Field engagement model to ensure continuous program enrollments and succession readiness
Manage Field inquiries from both Advisors and Managers, and assist in ALP deal valuations / enrollment execution
Liaise with technology and other cross-functional teams to enhance the FA / Manager experience and efficiently scale program processing
Manage the team's non-comp and technology budgets, and maintain the team's P&L in partnership with Field Finance to develop business plans and financial forecasts
Create presentations for various speaking engagements for the Head of Field Business Management and other senior leaders
Strategy
Oversee the implementation of strategic projects & initiatives, ensuring timeless delivery and effective resource allocation
Align projects & responsibilities to long-term strategic roadmaps across ALP and Manger Compensation teams
Define detailed process improvements and review progress across key annual deliverables
Perform deep dive analyses on business performance, proposed strategic solutions and their economic impact across ALP and the broader Manager Compensation team
Conduct competitive analyses to implement stronger program strategies and retention / recruiting tactics
Perform ad-hoc analyses and reporting efforts on special projects as needed
Program Policy
Manage the development and communication of the ALP and Manager Compensation Policy
Formulate / draft policy proposals and incorporate Field feedback into policy enhancements and revisions
Collaborate with technology partners to develop and implement stronger program strategies
Partner with the Field management leadership team to deliver program / policy changes across the Field organization
Team Management
Manage a team of 2 analysts, assigning weekly projects & deliverables, monitoring ongoing performance, and providing formal feedback & coaching as necessary
5+ years of relevant experience including significant experience in Wealth Management
Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred with a strong academic record
Must possess Financial Services industry experience, knowledge of industry trends, and competitive advantages
Strong strategic planning, finance, conceptual design, collaborative, and organizational skills
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills
Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint, Word, & Adobe PDF; DataIKU, Thinkcell & Tableau is a plus

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 100000 and 180000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
