The Field Applications Specialist (FAS) is responsible for the validation of new Hematology instrument installations to ensure they meet Beckman Coulter and customer stated requirements. Additionally, the FAS is works directly with the customer Key Operator during validation to reinforce training and ensure customer staff is prepared to use and maintain instrumentation. The FAS addresses customer questions and concern regarding instrument operation and assay performance, in accordance with published specifications and regulatory body requirements. The FAS works closely with many cross functional teams including Tech Support, Field Service, Sales, and Customer Training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer is accurately prepared for validation and meetings for established implementation timeline.

  • Assesses customer Key Operator performance and knowledge.

  • Completes Validations studies on instrumentation including, but not limited to: instrument set-up, calibration, precision studies, and method comparisons.

  • Provide both onsite and remote phone support to customers for assay and QC related questions.

  • Provides onsite training for accurate operation of instrumentation.

  • Proactively makes recommendations for future improvements and implements those actions accordingly.

  • Works collaboratively across the business to build partnerships with the marketing, service, and sales teams to ensure high customer service.

  • Drives revenue growth through setting assay growth opportunities while working with customers.

  • Motivates and engages teammates by asking for their input and listening to their ideas.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum combined experience of 4 years in laboratory / diagnostic instrumentation or other related field. Prefer background in Medical Technology.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills and able to collaborate.

  • Solid understanding of Diagnostics or Healthcare Industry with heavy emphasis on Laboratory Regulatory environment- CAP, CLIA, COLA.

  • Must be willing to work out home based office and travel domestically at least 80% of the time (based on the need of the position). Heavy overnight travel.

  • Company car

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), EP Evaluator.

Job Duties/Responsibilities * Supervise the day to day operations of the Serology and Hematology department * Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner * Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department * Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage * Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed * Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary * Engage in continuous process and service level improvements * Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control * Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents * Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations * Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development * Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations * Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations * Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures * Process and maintain payroll and personnel files * Perform administrative duties as needed Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a Science related major * 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory * Prior experience working in Serology & Hematology is desired * Previous supervisor experience is highly preferred * ASCP and/or AMT Certifications are a plus * Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations * Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures * Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office * Strong communication skills; both written and verbal * High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills * Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment * Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position Shift 2 Schedule Monday- Friday, 2:00pm- 11:00pm Labcorp Birmingham AL
