About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison's (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 15 million residents via SCE's 5 million customer accounts.

Position Overview

The Field Accounting Sr. Supervisor will work in the Field Accounting Organization (FAO) within SCE's Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T&D). You will be responsible for the operation and performance of Construction Maintenance Clerks, Construction Maintenance Accountants (CMA), and Supervising Construction Maintenance Accountants (SCMA).

Typical Responsibilities:

  • The Supervisor manages the safety, productivity, discipline, performance monitoring and improvement plans, communication of priority changes, and special projects in support of company goals and directives from FAO management, Finance and Plant Accounting.

  • Monitors compliance to FAO core duties of Timekeeping, Material Management E2 Notifications, and Capital Related Order Closings.

  • Provides leadership to bargaining unit employees (who perform activities including material management, work order administration, time and expense, and other miscellaneous accounting and recordkeeping duties).

  • Ensures the accuracy of financial reporting and maintenance and compliance of all Field Accounting Organization policies and procedures including the Sarbanes-Oxley Controls.

  • Oversees the appropriate training and development of subordinates, including career development, rewards, discipline, and labor relations practices.

  • Supervises and ensures the safety or approximately 12-20 employees in up to 4 geographic locations.

  • Works as a team member with others in the organization and representing the Field Accounting Organization on various teams.

  • Meets established performance measures.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four or more years of combined experience supervising or leading a team.

  • Experience with Collective Bargaining Agreements or handling of labor issues.

  • Three or more years of experience working with material ordering and receipting, budgeting, timekeeping/payroll, or work order opening and closing.

  • Valid Driver License.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline.

  • Three or more year of experience working with distribution accounting, including timekeeping, accounting, and completion of work order packages.

  • Supervisory and/or team leadership experience in a regulated utility environment.

  • Experience with analyzing workload, training needs, and developing employees to fill talent gaps, mentoring, establishing performance metrics, and tracking results to optimize productivity and quality.

  • Experience working and building relationships within the IPSEC (Initiate Plan Schedule Execute and Close) Model.

  • Experience with adhering to compliance requirements and policies/procedures (FERC, NERC, SOC, EEO, and CPUC) spanning distribution, transmission, and substation organizations.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to achieve results through others by prioritizing activities, delegating and monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding employees accountable for results.

  • Thorough knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements.

  • Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects concurrently in a team environment and independently with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business services to improve customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, and provide great service to internal and external customers.

About the role: The Reimbursement Manager provides billing and coding education to customers and supports the Urology Consultant (UC) in the assigned territory. The position follows all necessary policies, procedures, processes and systems in place to support the maximum and most efficient reimbursement for BSC Urology products. Your responsibilities include: * The field reimbursement position conducts training and education for new accounts and existing accounts identified by the UC and the hotline. Education consists of insurance benefit completion and process, billing and coding of BSC products and utilizes additional resources available through the Health Economics & Market Access team. * After initial education of the account, regular follow-up with the account is conducted either via phone or in person to ensure proper coding and claims submission of BSC products, identify any reimbursement issues and work with the account to resolve until appropriate payment is received. * Interacts with local and regional payers as necessary to provide information about the procedure to support positive coverage and reimbursement. * Communicate procedures for physician office, ambulatory surgery center, and/or outpatient facility billers to implement process to ensure maximum efficiency and collection of their accounts receivable, including coding procedures and processes for denial and low payment appeals. * Monitors receivables and collections data as available to provide detailed analysis of accounts receivable to physician billing functions. * Build relationships with provider staff and provide exceptional customer service. * Works as a liaison with the account, sales and reimbursement hotline to provide information required to complete timely benefit verifications. * Completes daily reports as assigned. * Follows HIPAA policies and procedures to ensure protected health information is secure and not accessible to employees not authorized to view the information. * Adheres to the organization's appeal strategy and manages the on-going tactical application of the appeal strategy to ensure a successful reversal rate in conjunction with the Reimbursement Hotline. * Reports reimbursement trends and global concerns to management to ensure corrective actions and mitigation of future occurrences. * Troubleshoots national and local payer reimbursement and accounts receivable issues. * Provides the most effective communication to health plans to ensure maximum level of reimbursement approval. * The position will NOT provide any sales activity related to identifying potential patients, reimbursement guidance for any product/service not related to NxThera and/or any practice that violates HIPAA. What we're looking for: Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree (preferably in health science or business area) * 3-5 Years of experience in coding, coverage and reimbursement including insurance verifications, appeals submissions and resolution, billing/claims processing, data processing, and software operations in the health care industry * Requires a comprehensive understanding of Medicare, commercial and Medicaid payers, knowledge of medical coding including ICD-10 and CPT codes. AAPC certification a plus. Preferred Qualifications: * Ability to review medical records and verify patient medical criteria as cases are worked. * Ability to successfully interact with all levels of management, both internal and external, third party payers, and customers is essential. * Excellent communication and organizational skills are required for this position. * Comprehensive understanding of medical management and health insurance concepts, information systems and strong analytical and problem solving skills are required. * Demonstrated work experience applying PC-based analytic tools to provide support to a health insurance or clinical process is required.
