Job Title: Fiber Optic Technician Company:

Catapult Solutions Group Location: Greater Phoenix Area, AZ Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fiber Optic Technician to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables and associated equipment. They should have expertise in fiber optic splicing, connector polishing/cleaning, and the ability to interpret schematics and blueprints. Key Responsibilities:

Perform fiber optic cable splicing, termination, and testing according to industry standards and company procedures. Install, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic cables, connectors, and related equipment in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings. Conduct optical power and loss measurements using specialized equipment to ensure network performance meets specifications.

Perform connector polishing and cleaning to achieve optimal light transmission and ensure connectors pass 2 decibels of insertion loss. Interpret and follow schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to accurately install and maintain fiber optic networks. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to plan and execute fiber optic network installations and upgrades.

Maintain accurate records of work performed, including splicing logs, test results, and equipment inventory. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others. Stay informed about industry trends, developments, and best practices related to fiber optic technology.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in fiber optics preferred. Minimum of [2] years of experience working as a fiber optic technician in the telecommunications industry. Proficiency in fiber optic splicing techniques, including fusion splicing and mechanical splicing.

Experience with fiber optic connector polishing and cleaning methods to achieve low insertion loss. Strong understanding of optical fiber theory, cable types, and transmission characteristics. Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.

Familiarity with optical fiber testing equipment, such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources. Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve fiber optic network issues. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
