Position Summary

CoServe Global Solutions (www.coserve.net) is a turnkey telecommunications company with field deployment verticals supporting wireless, broadband and engineering / design. We also support our partner telecommunications and IT companies through executive search and staff augmentation services. We are proud to be working in conjunction with one of the premier companies within the telecommunications industry in search of a Fiber Engineer supporting the greater Baltimore area.
The Fiber Engineer will oversee the design and deployment of outside plant (OSP) fiber within the Baltimore - Washington DC geographical area. This position will represent our client in a professional manner if front of customers (internal and external), utilities, municipalities, and contractors; and, be able to work cross functionally within a matrix organizational structure to achieve implementation goals in conjunction with RF Engineering, Operations, Regulatory, Finance Product Development and Supply Chain Management.

Essential Job Functions

  • OSP design, planning and layout
  • Public ROW permitting experience (City, Municipal, State, Railroad etc).
  • Aerial fiber design
  • Aerial make-ready process/applications/joint ride-outs/utility negotiation
  • ILEC/CLEC conduit usage/applications
  • Building entry design
  • Fiber splicing design
  • Engineering vendor management

Job Requirements

Education/Certifications

  • BS/BA with preference to Civil, Construction, or Electrical, Engineering Degrees

Other Skills/Abilities
Candidates should have exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, and very detail oriented. The Fiber Engineer will work cross functionally across our client's internal department as well as with vendor partners so they must be very organized, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Technically, the Fiber Engineer should have excellent Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint and Google Earth Pro skills.

Job Overview The Technical Engineering Support Teams analyze, test and assist in research for the development of products and processes. Responsibilities & Qualifications The Transmission Engineer performs optical & electrical testing of undersea fiber optic cable systems during loading, installation and repair periods using specialized optical test equipment and DC test equipment including DC power plants. * Manage contracted personnel. * Write technical Method of Procedures. * Compile test data to meet contractual deliverable obligations. * Test equipment inventory and calibration management. * Ship/Shore Power safety officer. The incumbent will assist the Transmission Engineer Managers and at times assume the lead role during the planning stages of a project, which may entail the preparation and shipment of equipment, gathering information relevant to the project and other administrative tasks. * Applicant must be willing to travel to remote locations for extended periods of time, work unspecified hours and spend weeks/months at sea. * This position reports to the Transmission Engineers Manager.
