POSITION OVERVIEW

The goal of the Title I Instructional Coach is to build capacity by supporting teachers to develop more effective instruction. Instructional coaches work collaboratively with teachers in building their intervention and pedagogical knowledge, support teachers on a day-to-day basis, and facilitate school-wide professional development focused on researched based effective instruction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Specific tasks, responsibilities or competencies may be documented in the incumbent's performance objectives as outlined by the incumbent's immediate supervisor or manager.

  • Participates in creation of intervention plans and data tracking to identify Title I students and improve student growth and achievement.

  • Monitors SDW's to ensure Title I students are receiving the support they need and are progressing through the AIT process.

  • Support teachers and grade level teams in creating action plans to address standards of concerns identified by student achievement data and Title I students.

  • Observe Title I tutoring sessions and monitor data to identify material needs, effective use of data, effective instructional practices, and identify students to enter/exit from Title I services.

  • Create and maintain a master Title I rank order list at each grade level.

  • Review Title I student list to ensure student needs are met.

  • Provide initial and continued professional development for Title I teachers, tutors and Title I paraprofessionals.

  • Provide professional development and support of research-based teaching strategies, best practices to address the needs of teachers and school goals and implementation of the school's program of instruction.

  • Facilitate training for teachers hired after the start of the school year, such as M-Drive Resources (Curriculum Pacing Guides, SOMAAH's, etc.), and Teacher Resource Binder.

  • Within the school day hours, provide a minimum of 5 contact hours (support plans, one-on-one meetings, modeling, team teaching, peer observation coverage, etc.) with teachers per day to provide guidance and support for the enhancement of classroom instruction.

  • Coach teachers and Title I Parapros in developing individualized interventions for Tier II and Tier III students.

  • Ensure that monthly MAP Skills progress monitoring is completed and documented for all Tier II and Tier III students.

  • Outside of the school day hours, meet with building principal to discuss the coaching process, the needs of the assigned teachers, and other related matters.

  • Complete online Instructional Feedback Form for teacher observed.

  • Facilitate change in instructional practices of teachers that will enable teachers to identify student needs more analytically; plan more productively; and teach more effectively.

  • Attend, participate and ensure effective leadership in weekly PLC meetings.

  • Review weekly lesson plans and check for alignment with standards and with daily instruction.

  • Lead teacher gradebook checks.

  • Facilitate monthly Title I & New Teacher instructional meetings.

  • Follows up on all phone calls and emails daily - respond within 24 hours.

  • Complete additional tasks outside of regular school hours as assigned by site administration.

  • Travel to required district meetings.           

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education, Licensure, or Certification

  • Hold a valid Arizona or Nevada Teaching Certificate.

  • Complete Spalding I & Spalding II courses.

  • Demonstrate highly effective teaching experience for three or more years.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of AzCCRS, content, materials, and resources.

  • Serve as a role model to all other instructional staff.      

Work Experience or Related Experience

  • Taught three or more years in a variety of grade levels

  • Spalding Certified Teacher

BACKGROUND CHECKS

  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Travel between campuses is required from time to time.

  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.

  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.

  • Local and in-state travel required.
