We are seeking claim specialists to support the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office (Claims Office) in New Mexico.
The Claims Office was established by FEMA to receive, evaluate, process, and pay actual compensatory damages for injuries from the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon Fire.
The assignment is expected to be one year long with four single-year extension options.
The assignment will likely require onsite support in New Mexico with the potential to become remote work mostly. Staff deployed is qualified for federal per diem of $69 per day for meal and incidentals.
Position Qualifications:
Must have 5 years of experience in a related field (with an Bachelor's degree) or 10 years of experience in a related field.
Should have thorough knowledge of FEMA Public Assistance (PA) eligibility, law, regulations, and policies, and familiarity with other FEMA Programs (e.g., Individual Assistance, Hermits Peak Program, etc.).
Should have experience utilizing Xactimate.
Insurance adjustment and/or cost estimating experience.
Spanish fluency a plus
Other recommended qualifications:
Policy Interpretation: ability to understand complex insurance policy language, including exclusions, endorsements, and coverage limits.
Damage Assessment: Proficient in assessing property, flooding, and/or fire-related damage accurately, which involves understanding the extent of damage, the required repairs, required documentation, and the associated costs.
Clear and Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge and ability to explain policy and regulations to claimants, FEMA Navigators, and other stakeholders;
Use of Technology: Proficiency in using claims management software, databases, and other technology tools that facilitate claim processing, documentation, and communication.
