The Federal Work Study / Student Assistant II will assist Student Success / Global Engagement & International Programs in programming and operations related to study abroad, international fellowships, and international student programming at The New School. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about growing international engagement at The New School through involvement in the following responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to the Assistant Director, Global Engagement & International Programs with short-term and long-term projects relating to study abroad, international fellowships, and international student programming.

  • Organize logistics related to the creation of a new Study Abroad Peer Ambassador program, such as advertising the program and recruiting Peer Ambassadors, communication to Peer Ambassadors, and maintenance of Peer Ambassador contact lists

  • Participate in the maintenance of The New Schools Study Abroad social media accounts

  • Track data on students studying abroad

  • Manage databases and processes related to study abroad contracts, agreements, forms, etc.

  • Assist in responding to and/or elevating emails received in the study abroad email account

  • Compose and distribute study abroad newsletters, reminders about deadlines, and other email communications

  • Assist in providing front-line customer service support to students from all programs at The New School who inquire about study abroad opportunities

  • Provide logistical and programming support in the planning of events, such as pre-departure orientations, re-entry workshops, etc.

  • Assist with advertising programs and events, including developing and distributing flyers and email advertisements

  • Perform general office duties such as photocopying, scanning, printing, and mailing, and other duties and projects as assigned

  • Assist with other duties and projects as required

VIEW JOBS 1/10/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-09T00:00 Lang College's Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives and Director of Curricular Initiatives is seeking a graduate assistant for 10-15 hours per week to provide administrative support for the Lang College Social Science Research & Practice Fellowship (SSF) program and for various curricular projects within Lang College. The SSF program involves Eugene Lang College students participating in internships and follow-up research working with a Ph.D. student from one of NSSR’s programs as a mentor. This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities: Serve as the key administrative contact for applicants to the fellowship program including answering routine questions, collecting additional information necessary, and scheduling interviews with the fellowship co-directors and host sites, etc. Collect and process all fellowship applications. Coordinate with internship host sites including getting them information about fellowship candidates, answering routine questions, and helping with any special requirements such as required background checks. Coordinate the logistical aspects of the fellowship workshops in fall 2018 and orientation in spring 2019 including preparing materials, ordering food, reserving rooms etc. Provide administrative support for other special initiatives run out of the Associate Dean's office. Research and prepare materials in support of curricular projects Proofread curriculum proposals; crosscheck proposal data with website information and university course catalog information. Track progress of curricular initiatives. Assist with management of academic program assessment data.
