The Division of Enrollment Management (EM) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UT) invites applications and nominations for a Federal Work Study Coordinator with the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 150 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, University Registrar, EM Communications, and the Veterans Resource Center.

Functions and Responsibilities:

This position serves as the Federal Work Study (FWS) Coordinator for UTK's FWS Program. Responsible for outreach to campus departments and off-campus Community Service Learning (CSL) non-profit partners for position creation, maintenance (ensuring that positions adhere to FWS regulations), and student employee time approval functions.

Maintains active contracts with CSL partners. Serves as primary system administrator for the JobX/TimesheetX hiring and time reporting software platform and works with the vendor, OIT, and Payroll offices for maintenance and development of features and reporting. Finalizes FWS payroll cycle for 400 student employees and generates biweekly reporting for director.

Develop and maintain FWS Reference Guide. Assist with other departmental functions such as ad-hoc reporting and fund reconciliation, as needed. Direct supervision of 1 FTE.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years' progressively responsible experience in a student-centered area in a college/university setting required.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years' progressively responsible experience in a student-centered area in a college/university setting preferred. Direct experience or responsibility in a FWS program is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with sensitivity to accuracy and confidentiality of information, and ability to adhere to strict deadlines. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, and to make and be responsible for independent decisions.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the University payroll system (IRIS) and Human Resources functions, and FWS regulations, guidelines, and financial aid policies. Experience with JobX/TimesheetX, Ellucian Banner, and/or FootPrints.

Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for processing of Federal Direct and private loans for the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. Position requires comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, need analysis, and governmental agency guidelines, including but not limited to the IRS, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Homeland Security, Social Security Administration, INS and the Department of Education, for analyzing students' eligibility for Federal and private loans. Resolve Federal and private loan errors. Review, process and reply to student's requests regarding Federal and private loans. The position requires extensive knowledge of federal, state and institutional guidelines. Must be able to work with other University Offices and outside agencies to complete financial aid processes and perform tasks within federal, state and institutional regulations. Assist with resolving Federal Pell Grant rejects and errors. Assist with reconciliation of Federal Loans, as needed, including resolving rejects and errors. Assist with Transfer Monitoring of transfer students to UT. Assist with performing the Federal Return to Title IV (R2T4) processing for student withdrawals. Assist students and parents in the financing options available to achieve their educational pursuits. Required Qualifications: High School diploma required, Associates degree preferred. Two or more years of financial aid experience. Working knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations is highly beneficial. Desired Qualifications: Excellent oral and communication skills. Ability to write clear, concise letters using effectual writing skills. Sensitive to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Proven ability to work effectively as a team member. Ability to analyze and interpret data and make independent decisions. Ability to work independently and under time constraints. Familiarity with MS Office products or similar. Ellucian Banner experience preferred.
