Federal Tax Manager
Geller & Company is currently seeking a Tax Accountant to join Geller's corporate tax department. The successful candidate should possess strong expertise, customer orientation, and good communication skills. Attention to detail and resourcefulness are essential to effectively respond to issues and requests by our key business partners
Supervising and reviewing preparation of Federal and State and Local income tax returns:
Responsible for Federal and State income tax compliance matters for complex group of pass-through entities.
Supervising professional staff in respect of tax compliance matters.
Calculating foreign source income and foreign tax credits.
Supervising the preparation of current and deferred income tax provisions.
Interface with the Accounting Group and other data providers.
Interface with and advise internal stakeholders.
Maintaining up to date knowledge of Federal and State income tax developments.
Analyzing financial statements.
Managing Federal and State income tax audits.
Assisting management in Tax research and planning projects:
Identification and resolution of Federal and State and Local tax matters.
Cross border transactions, including analysis and planning.
Interface with domestic and foreign tax and legal advisers to obtain relevant advice.
Assisting in preparation of detailed planning and analysis memoranda re the above.
Interface with clients re tax planning and structuring matters.
Implementation of planning structures, interface with clients and outside advisors (foreign and domestic) re implementation matters and supervision/project management re the same.
Supervising professional staff in respect of research and tax planning matters, including preparation and review of research product and related memoranda.
Identification and resolution of issues.
What you'll offer:
5 - 9 plus years of tax experience with a broad based background that includes compliance and research and planning matters - preferably Big 4, law firm, or Fortune 500 company.
Self-starter that can work on tax compliance and planning projects and manage the Federal and State and Local tax compliance calendar.
U.S. international tax experience (e.g., FTC and Subpart F provisions, 5471 and 8858 review ) required
Strong tax analytical skills necessary to apply tax technical concepts to complex transactions/structures.
Strong knowledge of Excel.
In-depth knowledge of tax compliance and accounting software systems.
Knowledge of flow-through entity federal and state income tax compliance and planning.
Strong writing/verbal skills to prepare detailed planning memoranda as well as to provide simple explanations to clients (e.g. non-tax specialists).
Working knowledge of accounting for income taxes.
In-depth familiarity with tax research techniques and resources.
Ability to teach and grow professional staff.
MST or JD
Experience with CorpTax software
