Primary Purpose:
To maintain the financial records of the District in strict compliance with TEA's Financial Accountability System Resource Guide and generally accepted accounting procedures.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance
Certification as an accountant or auditor preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, evaluate accounting problems, develop data, and recommend improved procedures
Ability to use software to develop complex accounting reports, spreadsheets, and databases
Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Accounting
Prepare, monitor and amend, as necessary, federal, state and local special revenue budgets.
Review implementation of special revenue programs for compliance.
Review and approve special revenue purchases insuring allowability under appropriate funding source, availability of funds and appropriateness of accounting codes.
Monitor yearly closeout procedures and prepare year-end audit entries.
Liaison with state and federal accounting offices to ensure compliance with fiscal requirements.
Liaison with campus and other district personnel as necessary to maintain integrity of special revenue funds.
Records and Reports
Prepare financial analyses reports.
Maintain general ledgers, including recording special revenue, preparing necessary journal entries, and ensuring that all financial activity is properly reflected.
Prepare all monthly/quarterly and final financial reports as required.
Work with external auditors to prepare required year end schedule and coordinate audit activities.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents required including auditable records and financial statements.
Other
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.

Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Salary Range: Min-$76,570 Mid-$91,443 Max-$106,314 (Based on previous experience)
