Job Introduction

The feature owner is the subject matter expert for identified features and functions. The feature owner interacts across internal and external organizations as necessary in order to ensure the appropriate development of a feature throughout the entire life-cycle (concept to production). The feature owner determines / approves the readiness level of a feature. The Feature Owner understands the needs of the customers and regulations and translates them into actionable requirements.

The feature owner drives the core feature development form the different functional disciplines - e.g., systems and software and validates that the end product meets customer (internal and external) and regulation requirements.

Major Responsibilities

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) of the longitudinal control function. Responsible for all the longitudinal control functions in the core team such as : Vision/Fusion Based Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Normal Cruise Control, Intelligent ACC, and all its related subfunctions

  • System architect of the relevant feature. Responsible to define the feature's building blocks as well as the corresponding interfaces.

  • Ensure that the feature architecture fits well in the overall platform (either ADAS or AD)

  • Understand and document customer requirements using ALM tools. Manage customer requirements, and change requests.

  • Ensure that the algorithms met the customer requirements.

  • *Create and maintain project documentation:

  • *System requirements specification for ADAS and AD platforms

  • *System architecture definition tailored to the specific project

  • *System test plan

  • Implement the ACC functions in Matlab Simulink

  • Perform systems testing of products on bench and in vehicles making sure the product functions and performs as the customer expects per requirements.

  • Be aware of innovative solutions and propose patent applications.

Role / Specialization specific:

  • Input the documents in the ALM system by distinguishing between requirement and informational items

  • Determine requirements goodness, feasibility, testability

  • Manage the requirements analysis process (submit questions to the customer, enter customer replies into the ALM system)

  • Translate the customer requirements into Magna system requirements

  • Ensure bilateral traceability between customer and system requirements

  • Analyze requirement for feasibility, risk, testability

  • Actively pursue cost saving ideas.

  • Be aware of innovative solutions and propose patent applications.

  • Define all the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the

  • Benchmark their feature against competitors and research different solution by interfacing with other teams with the Core organization and outside such as the application and advanced teams

Knowledge and Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering / Systems Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)

Work Experience
5-10 years relevant experience regarding Responsibility / Main Activities (listed above) in serial development or comparable experience in automotive (mandatory); electronic (preferable) industry.At least 2 years of working experience on development of control algorithms using Matlab or C.

In this role, you will perform many of the tasks generally associated with the role of Scrum Product Owner. Primary Responsibilities: * Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to recognize feature opportunities and develop the vision, functional objectives, epic user stories, logical architectures, and UX/UI concepts that meet the needs * Lead feature definition end-to-end across all customer interaction channels (i.e. in-vehicle, call center, mobile app, and web) that meet the product vision and objectives. Prioritize requirements for downstream teams to support iterative development and minimal viable product (MVP) definition * Ensure feature definitions provide robust customer experiences and flexibility to support multiple regions and future product evolution * Work with customer channel and system component owners to ensure the feature is delivered in a way that meets feature objectives and has a consistent cross-channel experience * Represent the feature to product development teams throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure resulting product meets the feature vision and objectives * Communicates status, risks, and escalations to the leadership team * Monitor and communicate in market feature performance and lead resolution for production issues * Create and maintain communications regarding vision and progress like a feature roadmap and release plan * Create contractual project related documentation like a requirements specification or statement of work Basic Qualifications: * BS Degree * 5 years of experience in a product definition or systems engineering role for software-based consumer products * Strong leadership and technical skills to lead cross-functional teams and align stakeholders * Technical skills including: * Understanding software systems and products * Ability to review designs and ensure they meet best practices * Experience testing or verifying software meets acceptance criteria * The desire to be part of, and contribute to, a team with a proven ability to work cross-functionally with designers, coders, integrators and business teams * Strong relationship-building skills including the ability to relate constructively to all levels of an organization * Ability to multitask and prioritize projects and tasks judiciously * Strong listening, written, and oral communication skills * Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical addressees * Ambition and the ability to be self-directed * Excellent organizational and communication skills Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science in Electrical, computer, information technology or equivalent * Master of Science in Electrical, computer, information technology or equivalent * Experience with automotive connected vehicle, Internet-of-Things, vehicle infotainment products, mobile apps and/or customer web portals * Experience reading/writing requirements using DOORs * Experience in a Scrum Product Owner or similar role in an agile environment * Experience using Atlassian Jira Agile (www.atlassian.com/software/jira/agile) * Experience modeling business or software processes using BPMN constructs * Experience capturing and managing software requirements as User Stories * Experience facilitating backlog refinement * Experience delivering a product used globally (multilingual and localized) * Experience creating release notes, user documentation, and/or training materials * Experience writing a requirements specification or statement of work Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Auburn Hills MI
