This assignment is based at the RMS Sikorsky West Palm Beach, FL site.
The job involves supervisory responsibilities, significant teamwork and coordination with flight test co-workers in a variety of disciplines (pilots, mechanics, inspectors, instrumentation and data technicians), customer representatives and subject matter expert design engineers.
This first line supervisory position will be responsible for normal management functions including; proper time charging, expense account approval, annual performance reviews, promotions, and ensuring both technical and Company employee training is complete. Responsibilities will include coaching, teaching, task delegation to direct functional support, necessary technical follow-up, and delivery of required work elements.
A key responsibility will be to interview, select and on-board new team members as is required to meet program staffing requirements and to ensure those new members have, or will develop, the necessary skills to quickly support the flight test program.
Supervise a group of co-located FCS/HQ flight test engineers. Facilitate and co-lead continuous dialog with FCS/HQ flight test engineers located in Pax River, MD. Ensure a strong one-team connection with the Pax based team to maintain a consistent utilization of standard work procedures and best practices across both locations.
Overall team responsibility for the on-site planning, conduct, management and reporting on FCS/HQ systems ground and flight tests. Specific types of tests can include: cockpit displays and controls evaluation, control law development, flight control system and hydraulic verification and troubleshooting, handling qualities controllability and stability tests, ADS-33 tests, and training simulator support.
Test planning involves determining / approving measurement requirements, coordinating an overall test approach and supporting the direct staff in defining maneuvers and conditions for which data is to be obtained in order to meet test objectives in a safe and efficient manner. These details are written into published test plans. This candidate will review and sign these plans for release as supervision.
Test conduct involves coordination with instrumentation and aircraft operations personnel, briefing flight and ground crews and monitoring tests in real-time using telemetry. Large volumes of flight data are processed and analyzed.
Prepare reports documenting the flight test results. This candidate will review and sign these reports for release as supervision.
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of eight years of experience in flight control, avionics, and electrical systems and related sub-systems--either applied or theoretical. Minimum of four years of experience within Sikorsky preferred.
