Under the general supervision of a teacher, the Behavior Aide assists in the special education program for handicapped students who have behavior challenges that may require a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) who are identified as Emotionally Disturbed (ED). These positions differ from Instructional Assistant positions and the positions may be located at various sites.

  • AA degree or at least four (4) years of relevant job experience in a behavioral support setting; • 2 years' experience working with special education students or any combination of training and experience that would indicate possession of the above required skills and abilities; • BA degree or equivalent in an academic or related subject desirable. • Employees will be required to become certified in the following areas: First-Aid, CPR and Professional Assault Crisis Training and Certification (Pro-ACT); • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License; • Provide proof of automobile insurability; • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
