VIEW JOBS 6/25/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-09-23T00:00 Job Description Looking for a Sr Principal level technical Software Engineer for the APEX (Autonomy, Processing, and Exploitation) group of the FastLabs group in Burlington, MA. In Burlington, the focus is on the most cutting edge research and development problems funded by science and technology R&D organizations. On this team, you'll have the opportunity to create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas like advanced electronics, autonomy, cyber, electronic warfare, and sensors and processing. Ideally this candidate would have many years post degree of SW development experience in OO (Object Oriented) programming experience (C++ or Java) under their belt, and has fully grown to become a go to person for their peers for: reviews, questions, mentorship, and overall betterment of development skills. This position could be for someone capable of being a program software lead (SWEL) who is also capable of working on technical proposals and cost estimates for software programs, but they could also be someone still interested in hands on development instead of leadership. Some candidates choose to lead programs and teams, while others prefer to quietly become the resident expert and help others one on one through reviews and mentorship. We absolutely value and need both personalities. A candidate at this level should have experience creating large complicated algorithm designs without any oversight. They should be able to be given more nebulous tasks, and be able to ask the right questions to nail down specific requirements, then come up with a design for a potential customer. They should then be able to break down that initial design into smaller tasks to the appropriate level that a junior engineer could then work on them. They should be able to quickly pick up code from any size system, and be capable of taking on the full life cycle of development for the program with no additional oversite. (Analysis, Design, Implementation, Test, Integration, Maintenance) This candidate should be capable of interacting with a customer when necessary for questions, issues, demos, etc. They should also possess knowledge of software architectures, software algorithms, software industry best practices, and emerging software technologies. Our employees work on the world's most advanced and interesting software electronics available. Our technologies can save emissions in the City of Lights, autonomously route UAVs through optimal task lists (like the traveling salesman), power the Mars Rover, first in class mission management technologies, protect the F-35 fighter jet, and keep our country and citizens safe. At Fast Labs in the APEX division, you'll be able to work among the brightest minds on the aerospace and defense industry's most cutting edge innovative algorithmic problems. Full time remote is not an option because of lab access requirement Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills * Existing Clearance (Secret/TS/SCI) * Ability to create and manage Software development and deployment schedules * Full Life-Cycle Software Development experience * Proficiency with software build tools such as Jenkins, git, gitlab, CMake and Ant * Experience with any of Distributed Systems, Multi-threaded systems, or Military systems or simulations * Ability to lead a software team About BAE Systems Electronic Systems BAE Systems, Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems plc, an international defense, aerospace and security company which delivers a full range of products and services for air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions and customer support services.
