Catalog Course Description:
This course explores the factors influencing fashion cycles and fashion change and explains the process of design development and apparel production. Included are the scope and economic importance of the industry globally and the business of fashion, categories of apparel, retail markets, and an understanding of the chain of processes from raw materials through retail merchandising and how they relate to the whole of the industry.
Summary
The Arts & Communications Department at SUNY Ulster is seeking motivated candidates with a strong Fashion Design, Marketing, Business, and or Management education and background, with community college teaching experience preferred. Applicants should be able to instruct the course in an in-person, remote, and online format. SUNY Ulster is establishing a pool for future teaching assignments.
Position Summary:
SUNY Ulster is currently accepting applications for an adjunct teaching assignment for FAS 101 - Introduction to the Fashion Industry for the Fall 2024 semester. This position is for in-person, remote, and or online teaching.
Position Definition:
Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator the Adjunct Instructor will provide instruction by course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and Governing Board policy; evaluate the progress of students concerning educational matters and perform other instructional-related duties as assigned. The instructor may be assigned to the Stone Ridge and/or Kingston Center.
Candidates should meet the minimum job requirements as specified below and be willing to teach in a variety of formats (in-person, hybrid, online).
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
Evidence of successful teaching at the college or university level
Actively working in the desired field of study
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in fine arts (MFA) in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to active learning and innovative teaching
Exceptional organizational skills
Computer program/ LMS proficiency required
Strong interest and experience teaching, mentoring, and working with community college students
Effective interpersonal, communication, and technology skills
And
Salary: $1049.00 per credit.
