Purpose & Scope: This position is responsible for assisting the Farm and its staff in the total farrowing of sow on the farm, up to 3,059 sows farrowing a batch.
Manage all activities/processes related to the farrowing of our sows and gilts. Schedule and perform according to JBS standard operating procedures and policies. Manage the financial performance by controlling cost, maximizing throughput and avoiding waste.
Ensure that the farrowing team has strong leadership. Ensure staff is properly trained, developed, challenged and counseled when necessary. Provide information, training and resources to allow all staff to perform their duties legally and according established Best Management Practices and meet expected production, environmental, animal welfare, and heard health and safety requirements. Ensure that records are monitored maintained and reported on a timely basis.
Training or farrowing staff and Farm staff on farrowing protocols, day one pig care, treats, sort, sow care. Lower still born, insure dry pigs at birth and proper microenvironments
Responsible for Safety training and production training of staff each month through Age Create.
Establish and maintain effective communication with staff, management and other departments to anticipate challenges and opportunities.
Work with Human Resources to manage: hiring process: employee relationships: employee discipline; and communicate changes in staff.
Work with EHS manager to properly train and audit to ensure, product, equipment, machinery; and processes are safe and operating in accordance with JBS safety guidelines.

5 years' experience in Farrowing
2 years' supervisory experience/effective team leadership
Strong communication and listening skills
Understand ventilation controllers
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently
Valid Driver License
Strong understanding of health issues of piglets and sows
Ability to bend, reach, twist and stand for extended period of time
Strong organizational skills and ability to work under time constraints
Record/Data management and analysis of production stats
Bio-Security knowledge and ability to follow procedures and guidelines
Understanding and ability to abide by Animal Welfare regulations and procedures
