The purpose of the class is to provide consultative and direct services to Individuals with Disabilities birth to age three. Disabilities may include deafness, blindness, Autism, Down syndrome, atypical development and other physical, mental and emotional challenges. The class works under limited supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related human services field.
Licensure from the Virginia Board of Education in any of the following areas is acceptable: Special Education /Early Childhood (birth -5), Early/Primary Education (pre-K - 3), Child Care Occupations, Work and Family Studies, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment or a Technical Professional License in Work and Family Studies, Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Some experience in the field of early intervention services.
Must obtain, within a prescribed period of time, and maintain State Part C Early Intervention EI Professional license and/or AAFCS certification
Must successfully pass a Child Protective Services Check and a background check related to this position prior to an offer of promotion or employment.
This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
