POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general to limited supervision, provides intensive, professional counseling services to a caseload of patients with substance abuse and/or mental health disorders and is responsible for development and implementation of the Family in Focus program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of a Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology or an equivalent field at a four-year college or university. At least two years' experience providing individual and/or group counseling for a caseload of patients.

Certified/Licensed Addiction Counselor, professional counselor, clinical social worker or in process of becoming certified/licensed.

Recovering individuals must have a minimum of two years of continuous chemical abstinence and must be active in support groups.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

• Develops and implements Family in Focus program with Clinical Director. Oversees, supervises, nurtures, grows and monitors program.

• Develops core curriculum for the program and ensures that FIF counselor has been trained and is able to present.

• Available for counseling and supervision of Family Sessions.

• Provides community outreach services by serving as an Intervention Specialist.

• Sees individual patients and responsible for running groups.

• Assess assigned patients and develop individualized treatment plans.

• Conducts individual counseling sessions and family sessions with assigned patients.

• Documents individual counseling sessions with assigned customers in accordance with facility policy and procedures, State regulations and Joint Commission standards within the established time frame.

• Conducts group therapy sessions on a regular basis as scheduled.

• Documents individual and group therapy sessions within established time frames and according to policies and procedures.

• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of counseling theory and techniques.
