Position: Family Program Assistant
Reports To: Treatment / Clinical Director
Entry Level Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science, C.A.C. preferred; 1-year experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact required. Candidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a basic understanding of the principles of chemical dependency recovery.
1.Must be able to walk within the facility and on the grounds of the facility for approximately 1 mile per every 8-hour shift.
2.Must be able to continuously sit for approximately 3 hours per 8 hours shift.
3.Must be able to administer CPR and be certified.
4.Maintain records and have good communication skills.
5.Must be able to see at 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aid acceptable).
6.If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence.
Program Assistant's are team members in the delivery of family counseling services in the treatment facility. The program assistant will interact with the patient and family members in accordance with established treatment procedures; and write timely, appropriate, meaningful documentation.
Know and abide by the general provisions of 42 CFR Part 2, "Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patient Records"; and 45 CFR
"Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act". This position has unrestricted access to patient health information.
Assist counselors in contacting family members in attempt to schedule patient/family counseling sessions and/or family program participation.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate with family members and assist them with their participation during Family Program.
Demonstrates skill in the presentation of didactic educational material, i.e., lectures, videos etc.
Conduct lectures for family members as assigned.
Assist in the record keeping, statistics, etc.
Document significant information in the patient record; such as, family attendance in the Family Program group sessions.
Report weekly charges to the Business Office for payment of services.
Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, must not appear impaired or disoriented, but rather must present coherent and articulate speech, kept appearance, alert, oriented, and responsive to patients' needs and concerns.
Ability to work in constant state of alertness as to perform the job safely.
Ability to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients and prospective clients.
Other duties as assigned.
