Summary

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide high level and patient-centered care in the discipline of Family Medicine.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment.

  • Recommends and orders tests to determine extent of illness or help diagnose condition.

  • Monitors lab results, medication adherence and medication toxicities.

  • Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccinations, and other medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.

  • Explain and discuss procedures, test results, or prescribed treatment with the patient.

  • Coordinate work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other health care providers.

  • Refers patients to medical specialists when necessary.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Represents the practice at Hospital committees in such a manner that the burden of attending the meetings is reasonably distributed among all of the physicians in the group.

  • Assists in recruiting and interviewing of new physicians and staff to the practice.

  • Attends Directors' and Committee meetings.

  • Acquires the necessary CME credits and takes the certification examination to maintain re-certification status.

  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), issued by the Accreditation Council on Medical Education.

  • Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine or Board eligible.

  • Current Medical licensure issued by PA State Board of Medicine or the PA State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

  • Successful completion of Family Medicine Residency.

  • Completed area of concentration (AOC) during 3-year residency or one-year clinical fellowship and associated certification obtained in area of specialty within 6 months of date of hire, as applicable for practice.

  • Prior experience in clinical medicine as a Family Physician.

  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least three (3) years clinical patient care experience as a specialist in Family Medicine.

WellSpan Medical Group recognizes that the Physician Office Assistant is often the first and last person that our patients, families and visitors encounter when they contact or visit our offices. WellSpan Medical Group provides training to our Physician Office Assistants to instill confidence in their ability to create a welcoming environment and well-coordinated experience for everyone. Duties and Responsibilities: * Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers. * Greets and registers patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. * Schedules patient appointments within established parameters. * Performs various duties for effective check-in and check-out of patients. * Prepares schedules and encounter forms for daily visits. * Handles walk in patients in the appropriate manner. * Ensures that Race, Ethnicity and Language is documented as appropriate. * Processes patient charge and collects copays and deductibles. * Performs various tasks related to end of day batch control, cash drawer etc.. * Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files. * Schedules appointments for patients with other provider offices and/or facilities including correct processing of necessary referral forms, pre-authorization forms, test instructions, patient benefit verification and transfer of patient information. * Processes requests for patient information according to policies and procedures, including record copy service and form tracking. * Researches billing questions and problems for patients with centralized billing service. * Types various notes, letters, memos and reports, as needed. Proofs materials for errors. * Complies with all HIPAA rules and regulations. * Processes mail including scanning and tasking if applicable.
