Child and Family Peer Support Specialist - Full-Time
Hiring Range: $20.07 - $24.58 per hour

As a Family Peer Support Specialist, you will be a crucial advocate for parents of children with emotional disturbances, supporting them in setting recovery-oriented goals, building resilience, and navigating the service system. Your role will involve providing peer support, guidance, and empowerment to families while advocating within service systems. Primary Responsibilities
Support parents in identifying recovery goals and empower them through skill-building and advocacy.
Serve as a liaison between parents, service providers, and the system to advocate for families' rights and preferences.
Assist in finding safe and affordable housing, employment referrals, and daily living activities.
Provide guidance and support for personal hygiene, meal planning, and accessing necessary services.
Organize social and leisure activities to foster socialization and community integration.
Assist in transitioning clients from hospital to community, including medication management and crisis intervention.
Collaborate with clinicians to create wellness plans and ensure client preferences are recognized and respected.
Provide peer counseling and support to parents, encouraging self-advocacy and empowerment.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and have reliable, insured transportation.
LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. Completion of the Washington State Mental Health Division's Peer Counselor Training and the subsequent certification as a Peer Counselor within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Associate's degree (Social Work, Psychology, or Behavioral Health field)
EXPERIENCE: Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
Capacity to work well with children and families.
