JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
The Family Outreach Assistant will work under the guidance of the Principal, assisting certified staff and student families. Their primary objective is to ensure that the educational curriculum caters to the comprehensive requirements of the students and supports parents or guardians in addressing familial necessities and accomplishing significant family objectives.
EDUCATION
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Paraprofessional Educator License
Computer skills necessary to generate data graphs and reports
Experience working with at-risk students
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Job Functions)
Regular attendance to perform assigned duties;
Assist instructional leaders in engaging families in the classroom and school, including meaningful volunteer opportunities;
Ensure that the school program maintains a welcoming environment for parents and families;
Assist leadership with developing and implementing parent education, utilizing internal resources and community partners.
Ensure instructional support staff connection between home and school by implementing and supporting activities, including take-home learning activities.
Support active involvement of families in all school-related activities.
Attend regular professional development training and related school events.
Seek continuous improvement of your professional knowledge and practice. Engage daily in self-reflective practices and seek constant feedback from peers, colleagues, and supervisor(s) to identify and execute opportunities to improve your accountabilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of and experience with at-risk students.
Skilled multi-tasker and excellent time manager; ability to effectively support multiple goals.
Strong analytical, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Passion and urgency are needed to address the critical need to address SEL and behavioral health to improve the lives of students and families.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Drive.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
School environment: walking, standing, squatting, listening, and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; seeing to monitor various activities; reading documents, viewing computer monitor; kneeling, bending at the waist, sitting for extended periods; reaching overhead, above shoulders, and horizontally, or bending at the waist to retrieve and store files; lifting semi-heavy objects; driving a vehicle to conduct work, moderate travel.
