This remote faculty member will be part of the online Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program and will serve in the role of FNP Program Director.

Duties

  • Provides contemporary teaching-learning strategies that align with clinical and didactic coursework for the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Certificate Program.

  • Contributes to accreditation efforts via continuous quality improvement commensurate with the standards of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for Post Graduate APRN Certificate Programs.

  • Supports students through advising and mentoring that correspond to graduate-level education.

  • Conducts scholarship activities suitable to a small, teaching university that accommodates the inclusion of graduate-level students.

  • Offers collegial and professional contributions as appropriate within areas of expertise.

  • Participates in the process of ongoing professional development.

  • Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with WNMU philosophy and professional nursing organizations.

  • Participates in departmental and University committees as appropriate.

  • Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts external and internal to the department and University.

  • Familiarity with and/or willingness to apply advanced practice nursing knowledge to clinical and didactic coursework in the provision of healthcare to rural/frontier communities.

  • Understanding of remote teaching-learning strategies, advising and mentoring, scholarship, and collegial and professional contributions as appropriate.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Background

MS, MSN, and FNP or DNP with FNP emphasis. Must hold unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license from the United States with eligibility for obtaining RN license in New Mexico. Must hold unencumbered Nurse Practitioner (NP) license from the United States with eligibility for compact NP license. Must hold Board Certification as FNP or DNP with FNP emphasis. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Job Knowledge

Commensurate with that expected of a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Previous program and/or curriculum development experience strongly preferred. Previous leadership experience strongly preferred. Must be knowledgeable of University policies and procedures. Must be able to handle multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy. Must be sensitive to cultural differences within the University and community. Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications.

Working Conditions/ Physical Demands (With or Without Accommodations)

Remote classroom environment. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information. Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication. Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions. Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, and prolonged sitting. May be required to work additional hours or days depending on circumstances.
