Responsibilities

  • This position exists to provide direct medical care within the outpatient clinic

  • Works collaboratively with patients to meet improve their health and well-being

  • Delivers evidenced based care that supports the Triple Aim of improved health outcomes, an exceptional patient experience and efficient use of resources is required

  • Practices in outpatient with call rotation for phone triage

  • 100% outpatient based practice, and OB is not required

  • Functions appropriately as part of care delivery team through efficient use of resources and skills, both their own and those of other provider and staff

  • Chart in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope

  • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management

  • Quality improvement utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes or workflows

Education

  • This position requires a Medical Doctorate degree (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine.

About the Job Providing clinical instruction to and oversight of medical residents and medical students in the ambulatory clinic, hospital, and other training sites. Providing didactic instruction (seminars, lectures, workshops, grand rounds). Mentoring and advising residents and medical students. Providing patient care at the clinic and hospital in full-scope family medicine, including obstetrics. Curriculum development, implementation and evaluation. About the Department The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota was created more than 45 years ago in response to a legislative mandate to train primary care physicians. Since then, we have been leaders in transforming the specialty through education, research, and patient care. We are the academic sponsor of eight family medicine residencies-five in the Twin Cities, three in Greater Minnesota. We are involved in medical student education activities across the Medical School's two campuses: Twin Cities and Duluth.
