The selected candidate's salary will be determined by a Compensation Panel. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The incumbent is responsible for managing Hematology/Oncology care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. He/she will evaluate, diagnose, consult, and order appropriate diagnostic studies and treatments for Hem/Onc. patients and provide emergency Hem/Onc. services as agreed or designated.The incumbent will provide consultative evaluations and treatments to patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA Outpatient clinics, and perform administrative functions and other tasks as assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff of Acute Medical Service to meet the needs of the medical center. Provide oversight and direction for advanced practice nurses assigned to hem/onc. Service and act as a collaborating physician if requested for same Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Must be on-call 24/7 by phone consultation as needed. A physical examination prior to employment may be required. In the process of providing patient care, the work involves regular and recurring periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, pulling, lifting, reaching and carrying. Manual dexterity is required to operate medical equipment and perform activities such as surgery, treatments and computerized medical record documentation.
