The Department of Family Medicine, Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University seeks an innovative full-time faculty member for its developing Integrated Care Program. This is a transformative department, implementing integrated, team-based care in all aspects of education, teaching, and research.

This position will function as a member of the research team in the Center for Integrated Care Delivery in the implementation and conduct of several grant-funded projects, including:

  1. Prepare for Practice: Integration of Future Psychologists into Rural, Primary Healthcare Settings;
  2. Innovative training to transform rural care; and
  3. Healthier Lives at School and Beyond: Linking School-Based Health Centers to Expanded Resources for Care and Counseling.

As a part of these projects, This position will train and supervise graduate-level behavioral health trainees who are providing care to patients in an integrated primary care setting; contribute to the revision and restructure of a more unified, interdisciplinary curriculum across multiple professions in the primary care setting; and provide behavioral health services as a part of team-based care for underserved patients with diabetes and co-morbid disease/ behavioral challenges via a telehealth system directly into rural primary care practices at the time of the primary care visit.

This position will join other members of the Project Team within the Family Medicine Center.

This position offers the appropriate candidate the opportunity for clinical program research, model development, dedicated Family Medicine resident and clinical health psychology doctoral student teaching, and provision of clinical services within an integrated care/telehealth setting. Minimum qualifications include a completion of appropriate Doctoral Program (PhD) leading to current North Carolina license or eligibility as a Psychologist and Health Service Provider Psychologist, or Provisionally Licensed Psychologist in the state of North Carolina.

Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

The selected candidate will join our growing sports medicine team in our Durham, NC community based practice. The position will serve as an extension of the Sports Medicine Program Directors vision, leading and coordinating various initiatives and programs. Learn more about the Department of Family Medicine at: The Sports Medicine Faculty Physician position will be an integral part of the Sports Medicine program within the Department of Family Medicine at UNC. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: Clinical: Responsible for providing sports medicine as well as primary care services to our patient population, with specific responsibilities for helping to create a running medicine clinic that will be incorporated into the existing sports medicine clinics. In addition, the position will provide compartment testing to patients that need evaluation for exertional compartment syndrome, ultrasound evaluation and ultrasound guided injections for clinical patients, and work with community programs providing game coverage. Teaching & Education: Responsible for teaching a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, interns, and sports medicine fellows. Selected candidates will attend Graduate Medical Education meetings in the event the program director is unable to attend, and will attend yearly American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) meetings and submit materials for presentation. The faculty member will participate in all educational programs provided by the program. Research: All faculty are encouraged to develop a scholarly interest. Clinical faculty are expected to produce a scholarly product, which may include national presentations and should include manuscript submission, at a rate of one every one or two years. Mentoring and coordinating research projects for the Sports Medicine fellows and residents. Institutional Citizenship: All faculty are expected to work as part of the larger team to improve access, reduce cost, improve quality, and promote efficiency and better health outcomes. You may be requested to engage in community outreach and attend professional events to assist with program development and building professional relationships with referring providers. In addition, attention to timely and complete documentation, patient satisfaction, and referring physician satisfaction are needed by each faculty member in our Department. Faculty rank and salary is commensurate with experience, plus excellent UNC faculty physician benefits and clinical incentive pay. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med Peds. Fellowship training and/or an advanced degree (e.g. MPH) is highly desirable, but not mandatory. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and with a program and/or systems development. Sports Medicine research, and working with IRB processes experience is preferred. Experience teaching residents and medical students. In addition, the ideal candidate will need to possess the ability to communicate with a variety of learner groups and attending physicians and to collaborate and work in a team environment.
