This Position is Full Time at 35 hours per week.

Job Summary

Provide direct assistance to clients in the process of education and development in an effort to assist them in achieving educational goals, economic self-sufficiency and effective job readiness as quickly and professionally as possible.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff of the educational development program, including developing programs and curricula, assigning cases and projects, monitoring the productivity and quality of service

  • Make public presentations regarding the benefits of the program offerings

  • Track statistics for reporting and outcomes

  • Develop and implement efficient delivery of services

  • Oversee client and family intake process

  • Consult with other agencies in order to promote enhanced services to families

  • Represent the programs and the Corp at community events and professional programs and conferences

  • Recruit, select and train new volunteers, interns and staff members

  • Develop individual and family educational development plans

  • Schedule speakers and leaders for trainings, workshops, job fairs and center events

  • Guide and coach clients in key preparatory activities tied to employment, including writing professional resumes, networking, and mock interviewing.

  • Responsible for all facets of successfully running and maintaining the afterschool program.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Create PowerPoint slides, Publisher documents and other materials for educational purposes and promotion of center programs and services.

  • Conduct training and tutoring, and workshops for clients and staff.

  • Responsible to run the summer day camp while afterschool program is not functioning

  • Help in recruiting kettle workers including kettle applications and TFC applications if needed


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent counseling and listening skills.

  • Valid PA driver's license.

  • Ability to work with children

  • Be able to work well with other employees and must be of a "confidential" nature because of the people coming into our building for assistance.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft computer applications.

  • Flexibility and good organizational skills.

  • Must have good time management skills.

  • Must have ability to adapt to various work locations and settings.

  • Be able to work with limited supervision.

  • All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.

  • PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army's KeepSAfe training required.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree or higher and 1 to 3 years of experience in life skills education or related field.
