About Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP)

Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP) is a community-based component of the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center to provide supports to families with young children in the Western region of North Carolina and training on evidence-based early intervention practices throughout the entire state.

FIPP is an early childhood intervention and family support program that has been providing services and resources in Western North Carolina since 1972. Overall, the mission of the program is to promote optimal health and development of young children, especially those with or at risk for disabilities, through supporting/strengthening families in ways that enhance their growth well-being and build the capacity of the family. Currently, FIPP provides services and resources to Alexander, Burke, Catawba, Caldwell and McDowell counties.

The FIPP supports have been developed in an effort to address the increasing need for services, training, consultation and technical assistance in the community. FIPP conducts an annual in-depth program evaluation to learn more about the practices that result in improved outcomes for children and families. FIPP conducts applied research and disseminates trainings and materials to the early intervention community within North Carolina and around the country.

FIPP training includes self-paced courses, webinars, and live trainings. FIPP-produced materials and distributed through the FIPP website, social media, and during trainings and conference sessions. FIPP publications can be found in peer-reviewed journals and on the FIPP website.
