Job Description
Family and Engagement Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Principal
SUPERVISES: None
WORK WEEK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday
WORK HOURS: 40
MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Family Engagement Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the school administrators, faculty, staff, students, and students' parents. This key position will improve communication between the school and the students' families; promote parent engagement in their children's education; and to encourage greater community involvement in the school. This is a full-time position requiring a flexible schedule that will include some evenings.
Responsibilities will include coordinating family events/workshops during the evenings or weekends and participating in the schools PTO, School Improvement Team, School Committee meetings, and other appropriate committees. Provide enrichment programming for students to better form relationships with the children as an entry to meeting their parents. Our ultimate goal is to assist parents in becoming more involved with their children's education and to promote a sense of community.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ASSA), specifically Section 1116
Knowledge of various community, school, and governmental resources to assist parents and families support students' learning and academic success
Knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and others applicable to the work performed and various social media platforms
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive relationships with parents and families with various backgrounds
Ability to utilize multiple formats to promote parent family engagement
Ability to identify potential barriers to parent family engagement and determine appropriate solutions
Ability to clearly communicate in both written and verbal forms (composing, editing, word choice, expressiveness, clarity) with teachers, administrators, volunteers, parents and families, and community partners

Valid Driver's License is required
One must be the current or most recent supervisor and the other a previous supervisor

Responsibilities will also include assisting admin, counselor, teacher, and/or school workers with communications as necessary
Work closely with the schools and the community to ensure strong communication and partnership between schools/community
Plan, execute, and reflect on family/community events and workshops/training based on family/community needs for the school
Coordinate incentives such as field trips, childcare, awards, games, and other fun family engagement activities to encourage family participation in school related events
Conduct outreach to parents to encourage their participation in school life-PTO, School Improvement Team, volunteerism, Parent/Teacher conferences, school events, their children's attendance, etc
Work collaboratively with the admin team to promote program/event participation, community involvement and other shared responsibilities
Disseminate and collect appropriate evaluation data (attendance, surveys, etc.)
Review and monitor tracking tools and utilize data to manage student and family
Demonstrate knowledge in community-based programs with a clear understanding of community issues as they relate to our students and parents
